Hi, is there any planned firmware upgrade to switch off fans etc when in standby mode aka after a print has finished, because unlike my other printers, this one has a constant whine when stood idle. I’m only in my first day of ownership, and this is beginning to bug me, especially if I get another and the damn noise will be in stereo
If everything is operating normally, the only fan running during idle is the MC board fan, which is SUPPOSED to be quiet. Unfortunately, many X1s were built with a defective fan that quickly becomes noisy. Bambu has switched to a better fan, available in the store at the end of this month.
Until the hotend cools down below 50C, the hotend fan will also run, but it will shut off after cooling.
I get that things run until the hot surfaces cool, as my other printers do that, but I’m assuming there’s an ARM like chip or such like on the motherboard that has a sleep function, and it’s a relative simple job to enable this and have a silent standby or idle mode once the printer is cool. Standby energy consumption reduction?
…so the fan noise/hum is from the power supply, and this can’t be shut down in firmware as it is linked to the power connection. Looks like I’ll be getting a quieter fan one day, and switching the thing off when idle.
