Problem: In Bambu Studio a created for each filament of my 3 AMS units (12 filaments) an own filament setting with an own name, so that I know in wich slot I have which filament (color/vendor/material). If I close Bambu Studio an re-open it, this configuration is lost. The only way (that I know) is to save it as a project and open it every time at first. Threfore I would like to request an option to save this configuration permanently so that if I reopen Bambu Studio my filament configuration is available from the beginning.
Yes iām also surprised by this behavior, maybe we are missing some thing, but indeed, i have to reuse a previous project to retrieve these colors affected to proper slots (whereas itās also known by the printer itself, and i thought it should be āauto-fillableā from there).
I think it is an area where a lot of work needs to be done. It is the printer + AMS(s) that once told should remember what filaments are loaded including the whole filament profile, color, and flow calibration.
You would need the ability to sync and partially sync filament loads between multiple printers and multiple studio users (especially P1P printers to benefit from calibration by X1 printers).
I donāt have my printer yet, but I was under the impression this button was used for syncing filaments with the AMS.
Agree. Currently, the ability on setting the filament on the ABS (and store it there) is very limited. Feeding a filament into an AMS slot and you can only select between Bambu, Generic and another brand and type of filament.
This makes it even harder for new projects if you autoload the filament, have custom settings for the specific brand and have to re-align them for every project.
If you have more than one set of settings stored, i.e. one set with 16 colours A thru K and a second with colours L thru whatever and different type of filament, how will the system know on startup, which set it shall load ? You would have to choose and load an option A or B then. Same as if you would store is as a project and load the project on startup - which I think is easier. I guess it would be easier if you would get only the Bambu filament which does have these tags attached to the spool and no third party stuff.
I am still trying to get my head around the whole workflow. When loading the AMS with filament the available types of filament are hard-coded.
This means if someone wants to use any other type of filament (e.g. for whatever reason I like to define PLA+ as PLA+ and not as PLA as type), you canāt select that slot for printing with the AMS. Future-proof: I donāt think so. And there are even option to select TPU even if they state that it is not recommended to use.
Then there are 3 different brands available - and a 4th generic one. Bambuās own brand I understand (tagged by RFID). So why shouldnāt it be possible to populate it with your own ādefinitionsā. In that way, it would be easier for repopulation from the AMS to load the correct settings.
Honestly (but Iām not that experienced), normally you would like to find your sweet spot for printing a specific filament (max flow rate, max temp for stringing, color preservation, layer adhesion). I donāt think you will come across with 10 different setting for the same Brand/Type/Color combination.
As mentioned in the beginning, I still donāt get my head around for the optimal way to use it. In my opinion with a bit of work the UI can be surely vastely improved. Currently I will also stick with pre-loading an empty project with prepopulated fields.
" Currently I will also stick with pre-loading an empty project with prepopulated fields. "
ā which I think is the best method since it means instead if starting Studio, with my Mac I just click that project file and it will automatically open Studio as the defined program.
