First off, searching forums in the makerworld subcategory for a similar post yielded the wildest off topic hits - the algo used on the forums must be wack.
Anywho. I frequently end up scrolling comments endlessly to try and find someone mentioning something certain, like potentially issues I’ve encountered with the print or some data about it missing in the description.
The lack of an ability to SEARCH comments on a model is hamstringing my enjoyment of the site.
It would be a huge upgrade to the current UX.
I agree. There have been several times I’ve gone back to find a comment and it would be cool to be able to search comments.
I could also see a great use case in having auto generated summaries of comments. Like, “Makers are saying they love the design features of the model. Some users say they had to scale the pins to get a good fit, while others hope for an update with XYZ features”. The negative would be that as a designer you’d want to be able to say what improvements have been made if it’s showing outdated summaries.
Unfortunately not all comments are loaded directly. There is some ajax loading when scrolling down the comment section. You would have to repeat this scrolling until the end of all comments to use CTRL+F.
But doesn’t solve it when on non-chromium browsers, or phones and more.
And it clearly shines a light on how this feature is a valuable addition.

It makes so much sense to have comment-search. Mainly because it makes comments from others useful. For example: searching for “PLA” on a print used in high temperatures can give me real world user information from people who tested a PLA print.
And like that there are many many examples.
I came looking for these forums purely to raise this same request. Here is my scenario that shows the value of this feature being added; I’m looking at the universal snag cutter model and want to see if anyone who has an A1, without AMS, has commented that they used it successfully. All I need is the ability to search for A1 and I’d find the info I need but end up scrolling through pages of comments until I find it. I’m found myself wanting to do searches like this in the comments for a half a dozen other models so far.
Alternatively, if a more modern approach is of interest, they could add an AI chatbot that does the searching both across the comments and all the documentation from the author (sometimes it’s a ton of info that’s just too long to read). But that would of course have more cost for them.
