Feature Request: Set default download location for Timelapse Videos

Hi

I would like to be able to set a default download location for any Timelapse’s I create, currently everything just goes into the ‘Downloads’ directory, but this contains everything you’ve downloaded and it becomes difficult to separate Timelapse’s easily.

If another directory could be set for Timelapse’s (other than Downloads) that would keep things nice and tidy.

Cheers

Click the down arrow next to “file” at the top left of bambu studio and select “preferences”, towards the bottom is an option to select your download folder. I did not try but I assume from then everything will go to that folder including your timelapses but also your .3mf projects, your “save as stl” files, your download from makerworld etc which may not be what you want actually.

You can also sort your Download files so the newest always appears at the top. Click on “Sort” at the top of the screen, mouse over More and select Date Created. Then mouse over Group By then select Date Modified. Your most recent files will appear like the image below. Do this one time then every time you click on the Download folder; it looks like this. (I’m in dark mode)

Thanks @philch I did find that setting, but like you say, everything gets lumped into that one folder, I was thinking Timelapse’s could go into their own directory… which could of course be somewhere totally different to keep them separate and keep the existing download directory a little cleaner.

Good idea @Ken-N-Texas, I was just hoping for a cleaner looking, more organised folder structure off the bat and from a development point of view, adding another path to the settings wouldn’t be difficult to do and would give a clear split between files (Timelapse’s) downloaded and project / models etc.
Cheers

@raymanengland That’s ok. My primary files are organized how I like with very few on the system drive. Nearly all my files are on a faster secondary drive including the download folder. It makes for easy and fast backup when I run them to a Samsung T-7 Shield.

Or as a walk-around you can type timelapse*.avi and video*.avi (because it seems to change with studio/firmware version and whether you’re on LAN or Cloud) in the search bar of your downloads folder, select them all and move them all to your prefered location (but I bet that’s may be what you’re doing already ).

I agree with your request though (although I use filezilla and not studio to transfer so they go where I selected them to go :)) but you should post that request to bambu github rather than here, I don’t think the forum is used by bambu for requests (or at all…).

…thanks, that’s my current process, just trying to automate as much as possible

Thanks for the GitHub link, just created a feature request on there… and added a bookmark to it for future thoughts / ideas lol
