Feature request: Use AMS Spool ID instead of number (B4 instead of 8)

Hello,

I’m using 4 AMS on both of my printers and having an option to display the actual slot in the AMS instead of a number from 1 to 16 would be really helpful. As I use a lot of different colors (matte and basic); it would be helpful to know in the UI that this corresponds to the right slot.
It is actually like that everywhere else but in the “Filament” main left section and when you use the painting tool, when you go into the “Objects” and select a color there, it shows the AMS slot code.

Just to be clear, instead of having a simple number like “1” (for the first spool in AMS 1), use the code “A1” and so on.

Maybe an simple setting for people who still prefer the numbered way would be great.

Personally my virtual extruder numbers don’t correspond to actual sequential AMS slots as I swap spools around into different slots as needed and let BS select the right AMS slot at print time.
I agree though that multiple AMS slots with close colours can cause issues.

I guess you could save a new filament profile for each virtual extruder slot with A1, A2 etc. in the name to partially achieve what you are requesting.

Well, I’m changing colors a lot even with 4 AMS.

And as this is basically used everywhere else (the A1 instead of 1), why not make it the same in the software for those 2 places? The AMS and the software know it already (as it is displaying it in some places); this is just something that is not consistent. This is not about being an “issue” per say or trying to find a workaround

This is not a big problem per say and I simply check every time which one is what I think it would make sense to make this consistent everywhere. The AMS are not in the order but that’s also not a problem, the order is not changing and I simply put a sticker on each of them with the letter (A, B, C or D). And same goes for the spool (“A1”, “A2”, etc…). It is really super fast when I change one to use the right one on the printer because I see those letter/number code right away.

Can i vote on thisone? I absolutely agree, disks, ports, usually numbered this way. Or 1.1, 1.2… 2.1, 2.2…
