Hello,
I would like to make a feed back to the Bambu Studio dev team.
I have a problem with the Factor K and the Flow Rate calibration, between its automatic recording in the printer and the fact that the Factor K field in “device” is grayed out and cannot be modified.
For example, i make an automatic calibration with 4 PLA matte filament and they will have different results. But i can’t affect these results to each filament type, i mean Bambu Studio will create filament profile variations like “Bambu PLA Matte_1, Bambu PLA Matte_2”, but in the future we won’t know exactly which filament this profile corresponds to.
The problem is the same with Flow Rate calibration, for each filament in AMS, it will create au new profile like “Bambu PLA Matte Flow Rate Calibrated_A1, Bambu PLA Matte Flow Rate Calibrated_A2, Bambu PLA Matte Flow Rate Calibrated_A33, etc” and it’s not possible!
We should be able to affect manually OR automatically to each filament (depending type, color, etc) this Factor K and Flow Rate without duplicating profiles.
I mean that for each filament identified via its RFID chip, we should be able to easily assign it these values and store them in memory between each new similar identical spool.
It should be possible to integrate these values directly into the tab “prepare → Filament → Filament settings”, i will suggest how later.
In the same spirit, when we modify a value in the tab “prepare → Filament → Filament settings”, Bambu Studio requires us to create a new profile and forbids us to overwrite the default profile.
The problem is that it will create as many profiles as there are filaments, and this quickly becomes unmanageable!
We should be able to overwrite the default profile values without creating a copy. When the software creates a copy and automatically synchronizes the list of filaments present in the AMS, it assigns the default Bambu Lab profiles without taking into account the duplicated profiles containing the modified information (Factor K, Flow Rate, etc.) that has been optimized. You then have to manually re-select the filament profiles, which is the consequence of not being able to modify the original profiles.
All that’s needed is a “reset factory profile” button to return to the original Bambu settings in the event of a problem.
For example, no price value is up to date, which is a problem when calculating costs with the slicer. If every time we change the filament purchase price we have to create a new profile, it’s just hell.
There’s also something totally illogical in this tab, the default value color which is common to all filaments of the same type (PLA Basic, PLA Matte, TEPG, etc).
Here, we should be able to generate a sub-variant of the main profile by entering the color (without generating a copy of the main profile), and it’s in this sub-profile that we should be able to enter the K factor and flow rate (if different from one color to another).
We should also enter in this color sub-profile any other color-specific information for the same filament category, such as its price if different from one color to another.
There’s a real problem and a real complexity with managing these profiles, which are nonetheless essential for good management of filaments and printing parameters. We need to make things simpler without generating dozens of copies of profiles, because that’s just not possible.
This would save users an enormous amount of time and help them a lot when, for example, they don’t use their equipment for a few weeks because they quickly forget where they left off and what corresponds to what.
Please let users choose how they want to manage this, just propose a reset button for thoose who made errors or don’t know what they are doing, but when we use a lot of filament, it’s very complicated to manage all this easily.
If other users encounter the same difficulties or have similar complaints, please let us know following this post to encourage the development teams to react and take this request for evolution into account.
Thanks for reading.
