I’ve just received my AMS unit for my P1P. Excited to test it out I found a cute little model of a panda sitting holding a heart. 3 colours - white, black & red so a perfect little test.
But, when I slice it, I’m finding that the red filament is being used as infill and support in random places when it’s not used at that layer in the model. The red heart doesn’t start until layer 106, so I wouldn’t expect to see any being used below that.
Is this right? Surely not, I would say! Is there any way of telling Bambu Slicer to not use filament on layers when it’s not used on the model?
So I found out through another forum that the cause is that the model was originally red and then painted. I reset the model to black and repainted and the problem in the infill went away.
That said, I still stand by my criticism that there’s nothing in the slicer that can deal with this issue!
That’s not necessarily true. If the model was create with separate bodies for the parts that are to receive different color, you could go to the object, right-click, and split to parts. Then you just have to pick the filament for each part. Of course, if it was designed as just a single body, this wouldn’t work.
