Filament clip heads up

Just a heads up that I do not think the typical clip that goes over the edge of the spool of either the AMS 2 Pro or AMS HT will work WHEN DRYING
I don’t trust the primary feeder motor having enough torque and grip to carry the spool up and over the clip. Think it will act like a chock behind a tire.

Here is the type I question.
FilamentClip

I found this out on DAY 1 of my AMS 2. It catches, and makes all sorts of noise. Even the smaller ones were an issue. If you still want to use them, just don’t set the dryer to rotate.

I just made some clips that sit down on the filament where there is no real risk of having that issue.
There are plenty of options out there.
I printed three of these.
ProClip

But am leaning towards this design and putting them on the spare spools I have accumulated. These can be found on both Printables and Maker World.
AMS Compatible

The last type is the one I use except that I modified it a lot. It works fine in the old AMS but the protusions at the bottom of the AMS2 which are closer and higher on AMS2 PRO will contact the clip.

That is good to know.
I find that design more appealing than the ones that lay on the filament because once you put it on spool, it can stay there forever.
Have you posted yours?
After finding a design that will work on Pro I’ll print a bunch and then glue in place on all the spools.
That would be a selling point for BL if their spools came with a filament clip molded in.

Unfortunately, these too, can foul. Not always, because the AMS 2 has one side with the 7mm tall guides and the other side is flat. Unfortunately, the side with the fouling guide alternates, so it will work on one side, but not the other.

So if you do use it, pull the roll out, locate the guides and put the clip on the other side.

I cannot any longer as the maker has changed its license to a standard digital one which does not accept remixes. I changed almost everything so I suppose I could really post it as a new model

I ran 4 spools of PETG-HF through my AMS2 Pro last night with clips in place and your comment prompted me to go check them. Never really noticed those as being guides but sure enough
I was hoping I could use those as put them on and never have to take them off but

I made the clips out of PLA and they got too hot and deformed so I need to revisit what material I use.
I used PLA because I was trying to finish the tail end of the remaining filament.

I’ve been using the TPU for AMS or Siraya Tech’s 64D TPU, and they hold up pretty well, even to the AMS HT temps (or at least I haven’t noticed deformation).

BTW, the new 64D Siraya Tech goes through the HT and AMS 2 cleanly like the TPU for AMS, and appears to have better Z adhesion, for those interested. But it still a rather stiff TPU… it might be a little softer than Bambu’s 64D but not substantially.
