As a new user, I have a frustrating situation and must be missing an easy fix for this:
- Example of a print project that involves multiple filament colors
- All needed colors that match the build are loaded into the AMS
- If I open the print in the Bambu Handy app, there is zero issue of what order the filament colors are sitting in my AMS. The app recognizes that they are there in whatever order and assigns them properly to the build colors
- However, if I load the same print up in Bambu Studio, it loads the AMS colors in the slot selection #'s in the build, NOT in MY AMS.
- What I have been facing is when I select the AMS Synchronize button under “Filament” section in Studio, it re-assigns the print to my color of AMS filaments, and ruins the whole print. The colors are over-written and forced into the number slots of the build itself, and it is not being smart enough to say “the print had slot 1 as blue and slot 2 as black, but the AMS has slot 1 as black and slot 2 is blue” and reassign appropriately like the Bambu Handy app does. This forces me to have to manually reassign filament selection for each object in the print, which is a huge hassle on prints with many parts and 4 colors.
Am I missing something about how to properly let Studio see what is in the AMS with the Sync button and NOT have it ruin the color assignment of the print object sections?
I may be misunderstanding your problem, so apologies straight away.
Bambu Studio (BS) has a filament pool (top left of the screen) where you add the filaments you may use in the project with your model.
You select, paint or otherwise assign the colours you require to the whole or parts of your model from that pool.
The filament pool does NOT have to reflect your AMS selection nor do the positions in the pool need to match your AMS order. These are intentionally disconnected.
There is nothing stopping you matching them though. You can use the resync option (button on the same line as the filament caption) to match them.
When you go to print, the window will show you an option for each colour in your model. BS will attempt to match what you chose for the model with what your AMS has available. This may mean your filament pool in BS has red in position one, and matches it to your AMS in slot 3. This has great advantages when you wish to use entirely different colours, but, that is for a different day.
When you review the automatic matches BS made, make sure it matches the correct or closest colours before you print and you will be fine.
It can make a mistake p, this is why you review. If you wish to change a match, click the down indicator and choose a different one from the AMS options it displays.

Thank you.
So I think the last part of what you replied with is what I need to do differently.
When I sync my AMS after loading up a project, it wrecks the colors of the project, even though I have the right colors just in a different order. So for example, if one part of the object is assigned to filament 1 which is blue, and another part is assigned to filament 2 which is white, but mine are reversed and have white in 1 in blue and 2, when I sync my AMS the project is messed up, and I have to go back and select the correct filament, which is a huge pain for 4 color and prints with many many parts to go painting them or right click->filament change for each thing even WORSE when I have multiples of the item laid out on the plate.
But it sounds like there is somewhere to click with the drop-down that is easier to point a color in the build to a different one in the AMS?
Yes, this is done when you go to print the model.
The filament pool in BS on my example print.

The print window - with automatic matches

The dropdown option so you can see all the other filaments in the AMS slots

The resync button is great when YOU create a project, but, if you are using a project already created, it will cause you issues you are experiencing.
It is NOT the fault of the resysnc, it is how and when to use it.

Interesting, thanks. From a newbie perspective it drives me nuts to not having it properly show what’s in my AMS so that’s why I was always hitting Sync.
I think I was trying to figure out a way to fix my issue BEFORE getting to the Print screen, so it looked right in Preview, etc.
I will give this a look, thanks!

I had the same issue. What I was doing wrong was synchronizing from the printer. Instead, just click on each filament specified in the model and change it to the one you want to use from AMS.
