So my printer (X1C) has been doing fine then filament comes out when it not extruding. Even when I put nozzle to 210 for Esun pla+ the filament just comes out, I just suddenly had this problem. I thought it could be the hot end so i replaced it and it still does it.
The image is after I was printing to test and stopped the print. Then I set nozzle to 210. I have been using this filament for a while and had not had this problem.
Like the nozzle is oozing? This can be caused by damp filament as the moisture builds pressure in the hot end and causes oozing. Have you tried different/dry filament?
Yep. This. I kept having oozing with Inland PLA+ white, and kept assuming it was garbage filament that printed fine otherwise, but I’d get big strands sometimes embedded in my prints. Dried it 8hrs at 55 (same as Bambu’s recommendation for their pla) and it didn’t ooze anymore, didn’t string anymore, and ironing was flatter and smoother too.
The way the printer works, there are only two ways filament can come out of the extruder nozzle - either the stepper motor is pushing it out, or moisture in the filament is pushing it out.
I doubt the stepper motor is running on its own. Moisture is really the only explanation.
Plastic is an excellent thermal insulator. It takes many hours to get the plastic hot, and then it takes many hours to drive the moisture out once the plastic is hot.
Try drying the filament for 24 hours at 55 or 60ºC.
High ambient humidity can slow and even stop the drying process. When reporting about drying filament, it’s important to note the drying chamber humidity just before you pull the spool. That can give an indication of how well drying worked. Weighing is also important but leaves you hanging in cases where the weight doesn’t change much.
With a small weight change and continued poor print results, was the filament already dry (ending humidity will be low), or was ambient humidity getting in the way (ending humidity will be high)?
