Filament cutter squeak

My A1 makes a weird squeaky/creaky noise when it cuts the filament.

I thought it was a blade issue as I hadn’t changed the blade in almost 2000 hours, but it still does it after the blade change.

While, it’s annoying it gets SUPER annoying when you have to hear it 800+ times during a 27 hour print.

Also, my wife works from home and I’m pretty sure she’s about to throw the printer out the window.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to remedy the issue? Unfortunately (fortunately, idk) removing the wife isnt a super viable option.

Happens during any print that has filament changes and does it with any and all filaments.

Well, I was going to upload a video of it, but apparently that’s not allowed…so here’s a link to it Squeaky squeaky - Album on Imgur

First I was like WTF are they talking about…and now I can’t unhear it. Thanks

It sounds like the cutter is misaligned.

You should start the replacement process and swap in one of the spares you received. If it looks poorly seated, reseat it rather than replacing and try again.

How the heck does it get misaligned? There’s one slot and one screw hole.

But I will definitely try and see if that helps

I agree it sounds implausible but that noise is strange and this could be one answer.

No, like I absolutely believe you that it’s a possibility.

It was a literal question of how the heck does it get misaligned if there’s only one slot and one fastener.

I’m a diesel mechanic in my daily life, I absolutely understand weird implausible things happen all the time.

Mine squeaks with petg not pla

My brand new A1 is doing the same squeaking sound when cutting filament with PETG (Giantarm). Did you find any solution for this?

I would guess it needs a little oil
