Filament drying?

If i am going to take out a partial roll from the AMS and put it in a vacuum seal food bag, do i need to dry the filament in the printer for 8+ hours? Shouldn’t it already be dry?

I do not yet have a spool dryer.

Thanks

It should be dry enough if the humidity level is not high inside of your AMS.

How long will the filament stay dry inside the AMS when you regularly open and close it and humidity enters?

One m3 of air @ 20° 50rH contains approx. 10g of water. Therefore, the amount of water that enters the AMS (lets suppose 5l volume) should be quite low?

Does anybody know a filament box which is only slightly bigger than the bambulab rolls, which could be used as an alternative to vacuum bags?

Aren’t filament boxes and vacuum bags used for different purposes? Are you looking to store your filament and keep it dry (vacuum bag) or keep it as dry as possible while using it (filament box)?

Here’s what I’m using for both of those purposes:

I mean a box which is only meant to store the filament. Maybe box is not the correct word? Something similar than here:

But a box, which is optimized for the size of the Bambulab spools and does not waste 30% of the volume…

Do you really need a box? Or would a bag (like I linked above) work? It seems you’ll save the most space by using bags.

I ordered some bags to try. But I would prefer a non-vacuum solution.
