Filament grinding issue (matte filament)

When I feed matte filament it wont extrude. The extruder gear just grinds the filament and leaves filament dust all over the wheel. But when I try to print “normal” PLA (glossy) everything works just fine. Its just matte filament. Anyone who has experienced this and fixed it?

I don’t have your printer but most Matte filaments like slower speeds so drop your speeds way down and set your max volumetric speed setting to like 10.0 mm/s range and see what happens.

Same here. I got multiple rolls of Bambu Matte PLA, and got nothing but problems.
Tried any other filament, works perfectly fine

I’ve had this problem for a while now, both with Bambu Matte and PolyTerra. What I found is that matte prints perfectly fine from the external spool, so, that’s what I do now. Weirdly, I didn’t have any issues with black PolyTerra, just the other colors.
I also don’t use it as much anymore. I found that while I really love the look of matte PLA, it is much weaker, less layer adhesion, has tendencies to warp, etc.

I also have this problem. It started with matte PLA and then the same happened with other PLA filaments. PETG seems fine. I had a long exchange of emails with Bambu Lab support . I changed the extruder wheel(of my own will , not suggested by support) , nothing changed then support suggested to change the filament sensor and filament sensor support. Did that and everything seemed fine , printed a small part nicely but the next day got the same problem this time with a normal PLA. I removed the AMS , changed the nozzle with a bigger one (0.6mm) because I thought that the nozzle might be a bit clogged and printed from external spool and it worked very well.

Hi’ya, did you ever get to the bottom of why matte struggles from the ams?

weirdly ive just tried printing e-sun pla matte today. My couldnt even get the print to start with AMS. As im typing this its just laying down first layer taking the filiament from the external spool spool.

Nope, but for other reasons, I’ve mostly stopped using matte filament. It’s got poor layer adhesion, poor strength, poor dimensional accuracy. The only redeeming feature is that it looks good. The few times I use it, I only use the external spool.
