So I just got my P1S last week and I’ve encountered a handful of issues. I’ve been in 3d printing for a while so I’m familiar with all the little quirks but it’s gotten excessive.
So I’ve repeatedly run into the error of the filament getting stuck in the extruder. It’s basically smooshing the filament in between the gears. Humidity is showing 30% from the ams2, filament was brand new in the vacuum seal however I’ve had it for about 6 months unused.
It’s done this on single color prints and multi color.
Anybody have insight on this?
Your chamber is too warm and is softening the filament in the PTFE tube. Suggest venting the chamber via printed top vent or by printing with the door open.
Okay gonna try with the door open and will report back!
Also dry your filament as new filament will not be dry.
Fully agree on the liklyhood of heat creep being the most likely root cause and the need to dry new filament after its sea voyage.
In addition, repeated clogs can cause filament to get trapped in the extruders teeth. So once it has happened, it can be sensible to clean the extruder gears if the problem re-occurs. In extreme cases, the filament end will show grinding damage.
PS: 30% humidity sounds like a lot. In my AMS (not AMS2), i try to keep humidity below 10% with lots of dessiccant.
