I recently purchased a P1S Combo with AMS2 Pro along with several Bambu PLA Basic filaments.
The AMS recognises the filament, colour, type and shows the RFID next to them in the Bambu Handy App, but despite doing several prints the remaining amount still remains at 1000g in Bambu Studio and Bambu Handy App
I have tried removing all the spools and re-loading them, deleting from Filament Manager and letting them be re-added, but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas? This is my first 3D printer, so am very new to it all.
All of my prints have been started from the Bambu Hany App, just in case that is relevant.
EDIT: I noticed earlier today one of the spools had updated and was showing filament had been used, but later on it had changed back to 1000g??
I thought I would have a go at editing the remaining weight in the spools from the prints I have calculated. All seemed fine for a while, just looked again now and they are back up to 1000g, apart from one as that is not in the AMS, so the AMS must be talking to Studio/App and obviously cannot change the Blue back to 1000g as its not in the AMS.
I will have to see if it changes next time I use it.
Trust me, you’re not alone. I’ve had my A1 and AMS Lite for long enough to have clocked over 5600 hours on the printer’s odometer (chronometer?). I thought the filament manager was going to be a really useful tool, and though I can both manually add or have the Bambu Lab (BL) filaments automatically added from reading what’s mounted on the AMS Lite, the BL spools never update to show the remaining filament. Ever. So personally, I don’t think I’m going to waste anymore time with the function till BL gets it working properly. I’ve always used weighing my spools on a scale to determine remaining filament, and until the BL folks get this under control, I don’t see any value in tracking my spools using their broken app function.
I’ve tried everything and can’t get it working. It’s so frustrating when watching YouTube videos and seeing other people’s levels change and update.
It certainly makes buying Bambu filament a waste of money if they fail to communicate with the AMS.
As an experiment I amended the remaining amounts in Filament Manager in Bambu Studio and turned my printer off for three days. They stayed at the remaining values I entered for those three days even when doing manual syncs to the cloud. As soon as I turned my printer on within minutes they all went back to default 1000g!!
New Bambu owner. The first days the remaining filament was correctly counted between prints, but today all was reset to 1000g too without any idea of the origin of this problem.
As I read you, this seems to not be an error on my side but a software issue.
What alternative are you using to track filament usage on your spools? Do you revert to paper and pen?
My one filament that was registering correctly has now decided to increase the remaining amount since my last print instead of reducing! … it’s has a mind of its own.
I’ve now created a spreadsheet with all my filaments listed and print jobs. After each print I enter the amount of filament that the item says it uses for each colour, that adds the amount to a total filament used per colour and remaining filament per colour.
My spreadsheet may not be totally accurate, but it’s certainly better than the Filament Manager at the moment
Maybe there are some AI behind filament manager if it has a life of its own!
I switched to a spreadsheet too to track filament usage.
Fun fact, after the last print, one of the spools recovered its memory … so erratic. Maybe some sync issues between cloud, bambu studio and bamby handy.
My setup is a Bambu Lab X2D with an AMS 2 Pro. I’m only using original Bambu Lab filament in the AMS, and the RFID is read correctly. The filament type and color are detected properly, and the spools show up as Bambu filament.
However, the remaining filament amount does not update reliably after prints. The issue appears in both Bambu Studio and the Bambu Handy app. So it does not seem to be just a display issue in one app.
In my case, the filament is recognized correctly, but the remaining amount stays unchanged and does not reflect the actual usage. Since this is happening with original Bambu Lab filament and correctly read RFID tags, it looks more like a software/sync/AMS 2 Pro tracking issue rather than user error or third-party filament behavior.
Adding my report here so Bambu can see that this also affects X2D + AMS 2 Pro users, not only the setups already mentioned in this thread.
What you can do is “add filament” top right corner, then select “read from AMS” then select your current filament and click “add” and “overwrite”
Now you’re inventory is updated with latest value.
Although it would be nice if this was automated
