Filament not going through buffer

I am unable to load filament to the left nozzle. It stops at the filament buffer. I have tried pushing filament through from the spool side and the extruder side but unable to in either direction. Any ideas?

Might not be the correct next step, but I would probably try to remove the nozzle to see if there is filament stuck.

I’m not sure that would help. The filament isn’t making it to the nozzle. It’s not going past the filament buffer.

I had a similar problem. It turned out to be that I hadn’t fully inserted the tube leading into the buffer. Once I did, everything functioned as it should.

The shared machine I used had a similar issue and I followed the steps here to solve it. Maybe it might help you?

Thanks for sending that. The PTFE tubes are connected correctly for mine. I wonder if it’s the magnet issue he mentions in the video. Odd that it has been working flawlessly for over a month and now has this issue. The investigation continues.

I had this same issue with a pretty new H2D. My printer has 210 hours on it and since day one had printed and worked perfectly.

Yesterday I got an error message that the filament could not be loaded in the Right Extruder. This was out of the blue. I had just printed with some TPU in the Right Extruder, I was finished and I wanted to print some ASA. The ASA would not load.

No filament was in the hotend, visible in any PTFE tube in the printer, not in the AMS and no where else. I tried to manually push some filament through the Right Port and at the buffer it was abrubtly stopped, like hitting a wall. Pushing through the Left Port worked perfectly as expected.

Fix:
I removed the 4 screws from the rear that hold the buffer. It comes right off. On the back of it is a PC circuit board with 3 screws. I removed those and under it (don’t worry, it comes away and nothing falls off or is funky) you’ll see two springs. Lift the problematic one carefully and you’ll find they are magnetic. As you pull it up, an interestingly shaped metal thing is attached. Mine had gotten flipped the wrong way and thus was blocking the filament. I have no idea how it got flipped in its thin slot, but it did. Pull out the working one carefully and observe the proper orientation. Orient the malfunctioning one the same way, put it back together and things will work fine.

Again, I have no idea how the metal thing got flipped and I hope this is not a chronic thing. It’s not too difficult but it’s kind of a pain to do all the tasks necessary to fix it.

I had the PTFE tube from the spool not inserted far enough

I had a similar problem and found a piece of filament a little less than 1" stuck in the buffer.

Thanks for your solution, there is nothing in the wiki regarding this issue.
I think there is a serious problem with this buffer, this has happened to me too and I’m completely bewildered how this can happen? They seriously need to redesign this thing as this has cost a few hours trying to resolve first time. Next time it will be faster obviously but it really shouldn’t be happening at all.
As a side note my filament actually snapped in the buffer while the AMS was retracting at the time this little metal bit flipped.

You know, I may recall that I had a broken filament issue at about the same time. I wonder if that can enable the metal thing to flip? If it happens again, I’m going to investigate if I can glue it. I don’t recall if it needs to move or not. If not, a little glue might solve it for the future.

Had this problem with my H2S when testing the quick swap back to my 0.2 from my 0.4 after the 0.2 had already been used for a quick test print. After that, during calibration, I almost immediately got the “extruder” error you’re mentioning.
Turns out, I didn’t have the nozzle seated correctly or latched correctly.
What I found helps with getting the nozzle seated correctly is cutting off that little bit of filament that sticks out of the nozzle end after it’s “cut” by the printer. This makes it so the nozzle sits and goes back into the extruder properly.

When seated properly, and latched, it should barely move, if at all.

It’s getting stuck at the buffer on the back of the machine, not anywhere near the print head.

It’s been doing that in my left nozzle as well. Last time it was a bit of filament stuck in the PTFE where it enters at top of the extruder; just pull out, though.
I had to move it off the racking I had it on. Got my grandkid to lift off. This is why I got the PandaVerse storage cabinet. So I could work on it easily. Not got it delivery yet though lol.

I have same issue when loading from AMS, the filament drives in, and the buffer arm pushed all way to the right, and the filament stops… it can do it 3 times in a row… if i straighten out the PTFE tube a litle it may help and it comes through and prints fine… so, not the PTFE tube on the back there is not long enough in, nor snapped filament.
I tried to add a small angle the to PTFE tube going to the print head, if it was the edge of the PTFE it was hitting, but seems not difference… i have not checked the magnet, is that random error or always a fail?

I Had the same issue. For me the solution was to chamfer the orange part in the Buffer (inside the Tube)
I Had also a Magnet with a rough surface so i sanded them with grid 800. Now it works perfect

I’ve had this problem several times. first few times the filament would push the buffer to the right, but then stop and retract. tore everything apart (thinking it was the magnet thing), only to find a short piece of filament between the buffer and the extruder. That’s happened a few times now, seems SunLu PLA white gets extremely brittle very. quickly once I open the package. Wondering if my environment is too dry? or maybe it’s just a thing with white filament. This time I had a piece broken off in the AMS, and now a very short piece on the feed side of the buffer.

Is there anyway to push the filament backwards through the buffer? when I try that the buffer prevents it from going any further.
