FIlament not sticking to build plate :( update 26/11/25 )

Is there a known bug with Bambu Studio?

This update included something about fixing machine_max_speed_x/y and I noticed even when I slowed my print speed way down the printer still seemed to be going pretty fast, pulling the filament off the plate. Maybe there’s a bug there.

yeah i have thrown mine in the dishwasher at 65 deg c for an hour
it seems ok .

Im still getting that initial line the printer does across the build plate come off though

I did try this, bu i think i added the config package

sounds exactly like my issues , like spot on same

so i had a few successfull prints

then i need to make some spacers up, quick and easy to do in bambu studio

1 primitive and 1 negative part
mesh booleen together

hit print

then the filament is stuck to the nozzle :frowning: see attached

I’m trying Bambu PETG Translucent now. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Any final solution here? Every one of my prints have been fine (new printer about a month) and only when I loaded new out of the box Bambu Basic PLA is I get adhesion issues. Old as dirt bargain PLA is printing OK right now.

not really ,
some stuff will print fine , others not, even the same print file and same filament

The only issue I had with PETG Translucent is using sup pla as supports. PLA supports don’t do well with PETG. Once I switched to PETG filament for supports prints were fine and sticking tom the build plate. I did switch to a BIQU Frostbite build plate. I am assuming that we are still talking adhesion issues?

after some successful prints im still having issues , you cans ee the same issue in the pic

this is the 3rd time on a box for xmas
and after washing the plate with hot water it was that hot im not able to hold my hands under the tap, at least 70deg c! and detergent

Congratulations. I am glad it is finally working for you. Merry Christmas.

cheers

but im still having issues

Hello, I’m new here too. every body try help you and telling one thing clean the bed, but why no body saying something about FAN? Fan speed or fan selection is also very important. try turn of for first fews layer part fan off, aux fan off, exhaust off. and after some layers turn it back on but not on 100%. exhaust don’t need almost for any time with PLA. AUX off or just minimal speed.
also try lower Z offset -0.02/0.03mm. you get better stick with the pad.

if saying ā– ā– ā– ā–  sorry I still learning.

Same problem here, but i have figured it out and it is nothing that was mentioned. So you put the model on the build plate and adjust it, maybe rotate it, then you print it, and nothing sticks or keeps coming off. Rerun calibration, still the same problem. Here is what to check. When it starts printing, make sure on the first layer, it says layer 1/xxx and not layer 2/xxx or layer 3/xxx. You would think Bambu Studio would detect this error but it doesn’t, or at least the latest version doesn’t. Your printing on air!!! Remember layer 1 should be displayed as layer 1/xxx where xxx is the total number of layers. Bambu, fix Bambu Studio and detect this error.

im not sure what you mean by layer 1? ill need to look,

you mean here at arrow? this is on a new im about to start and try

def not that issue

i watched it print layer

1/286

2/286 then

3/286 cause this

i have just given the plate a sand , a clean with dishwasher and then dishsoap :frowning:

Just a sanity check of what I did to correct my adhesion issues, and then compare if you have tried the same. I am not going to go into detail about using alcohol or acetone, they were NOT successful.

Scrubbed the build plate with Dawn dish soap, that didn’t work so I sanded it with 600 grit paper.

Then I Scrubbed with Dawn power wash, and put in the dish washer

Slowed down 1st layer speed to 15 - 20

Nozzle temp to 225 - 230, I have since let the default take over

Bed temp I have tried 55 - 60

Finally I am now using a BIQU Panda BuildPlate CryoGrip Pro. I am going to try the Bambu Labs build plate again after my current print is complete

One last thing is I now handle the build plate with latex gloves ensuring there is no oil from my hands getting on the plate.

Disco Frank, I really feel your pain. I had this issue come up a week after I purchased the printer. I was so frustrated with the adhesion issues I was about to quit 3D printing and sell my printer. One last thing. Are you in an area with high humidity (here it hovers around 10 - 20%) maybe your filament needs to be dried.

OK. First I have 5 Bambu printers and have been 3D printing for almost 10 years.
First, ONLY clean build plates with soap and water. PERIOD. Never alcohol, acetone, acid, dishwasher, steel wool or ANYTHING ELSE, with a VERY few exceptions!!! Never. You don’t need gloves, just don’t touch the surface. Textured or smooth PEI is fine, and the BIQU plates are fine as long as you use the temps the recommend.

PLA filament doesn’t need to be dried unless its stringing. If you live in Florida or Texas, maybe carefully store it, but it will still stick to the build plate in most cases.

So if you are using PLA with a good build plate not damaged by abuse, then its either not heated enough, or the first layer height is not correct. With Bambu printers, either the model was not 100% on the build plate when slicing, or so malfunction in the printer. Run a calibration to test for that, make sure the nozzle in clean and installed correctly and you should be OK. Otherwise try Bambu Support.
