Hi,
since two weeks I have some issues on my X1C with filament sticking on the nozzle during bed levelling.
I always use PLA from eSun or Bambu.
Everything works well during the bed levelling phase where the nozzle hammers to the build plate.
Then, before the next step, the head goes back to the wiper - the nozzle has a temperature of 140 degrees - it pushes a small amount of filament out (2-3cm) which sticks on the nozzle.
I assume this leads to bed levelling errors followed by first layer- and spaghetti errors.
I performed the maintenance steps, replaced the hotend, the nozzle wiper, tried different filaments, downgraded firmware to 1.04.01 (as suggested in another thread), nothing helps. I was using the printer for 3 months and never had any issue.
At the moment I have to wait until the printer starts with the first line to see if there is a distance between nozzle and build plate. If leveling was fine the prints are nearly perfect.
Suggestions are welcome.

It lowers the nozzle temp so that it does not damage the bed when leveling from too high of a temp.
When I look at the machine start code for the P1P it does multiple nozzle wipes, retracts, lowers temp and then rubs the nozzle on the back edge of the plate to make sure there is nothing on the end of the nozzle.
Are you seeing the rubbing on the back of the plate before leveling?

Thanks. Yes. I can see the rubbing and at this time the nozzle is clean.
Then the part where nozzle knocks several times on the plate starts and still everything is fine.
After that part the head goes to the poh section and stays for a few seconds. Then it extrudes 2-3cm filament (at 140 °) which keeps sticking during the following steps. I don’t understand why the machine is doing it? Can I modify the G-Code to bypassing this step?

Normally it should lower the temp to 140° AFTER the extrusion.
And yes, you can modify the machines GCode.

I am looking at the X1 machine start code now.
When you say the nozzle “knocks several times on the plate” are you talking about in the middle of the plate? If so that is homing the Z axis.
I am not familiar with the X1 code as I have a P1P. The X1 has much more startup code and a significant portion of it is in run-time conditional statements (M622).
It looks like this is the actual home, which occurs after bed leveling.

You are probably better off using the previous suggestion. I do think it is worthwhile to try to undestand the start code when you have time. Maybe print a copy and look at it during a print start to try and identify what happens when. That is how I figured out and optimized my start code.

With knocking on the plate I mean the phase where the nozzle touches the whole build plate (one point after another). Then the head goes back to the purge area, extrudes the 2-3 filament and after that it scans the build plate without touching it (withe the filament sticking on the nozzle). Sorry, if I don’t express it with the right words.
But if I am able to find the place in G-Code where this extruding with 140° happens, I am sure, I can solve the problem.
I will try to record a short movie about the issue.

That part is the bed leveling process.
Do not worry about how you say it. You are getting the information across.
Hopefully someone with an X1 will add more information soon.
Did you ever fix this issue? I am having the exact same issue. The only way ive been able to fix it is by keeping a close eye on it and at the exact right moment, reach in scrap that blob of filament off be fore it starts it’s mesh bed leveling.
Not really. At the time I’ve found g-code snippet that I pasted at the end of the “Machine start G-Code”.
This adds an additional nozzle wiping before printing. It helped a little bit but I had still filament on the nozzle during the bed levelling process.
Then I had a longer printing-free period in the summer. After installing the latest firmware in autumn, I have still the same issue but 99% of prints are perfect.
Even with the filament on the nozzle, the levelling seems to work. I printed >20kG of filament since then and had just 1 spaghetti monster and 2 firstlayer errors (one of them was printing ABS with PLA settings - my mistake).
I still have on my list to learn to understand the Machine g-code and find the place where the (in my opinion) useless filament push out of the filament during the leveling process happens (

Here is the code snippet for the additional step for nozzle wiping before printing. You can paste it at the end of the Machine start Go-Code in the printer settings.
