Im using my H2D with Filament Track Switch, with the current beta firmware and beta bambu studio. having 2 AMS units in a typically setup.
I noticed when slicing the convenient mode disappeared, and the filament-saving mode remains (and the custom mode). But still think current filament-saving mode is not optimal, and is more like the convenient mode.
I have a two color print. Normally i would set color 1 to left nozzle, and color 2 to the right nozzle. The filament-saving mode does the same, but…they are both in the same AMS. It will save filament since it doesn’t need to purge the nozzle, but it still needs to unload/load on every color change, loosing time. Yes, it is bit of a user error but…
I would expect bambu studio tell me to re-arrange the filaments just like without the FTS.
I think that you’re really asking for is “Time Saving Mode” - which would be the FTS equivalent of the old “convenience mode”.
I would agree as once there are more than 2 filaments in a print, and especially when HF nozzles are thrown into the mix, it becomes difficult to test out all the permutations in Custom Mode to find the actual best filament distribution.
The other thing, as discussed in this thread , is right now estimates don’t even account for nozzle changes, so that will have to be implemented for Studio to even be able to figure out the fastest mapping - and I don’t know if it’s spelled out or not, but that would require some system awareness of exactly which type of AMS unit each one is and also how long the PTFE runs are - and at what distance point the FTS lies in that chain.
