You’re right, and that’s a real trap: a low part-cooling override from a P1S would silently cancel the H2S defaults. So I changed the tool:
- Any overridden fan/cooling, chamber or max-volumetric-speed values are now listed as a warning after porting, so you see exactly what was tuned for the old machine.
- There’s a new “Reset cooling, chamber & flow to the new printer’s defaults” option (–reset-cooling in the CLI). It drops those overrides and takes the target’s system values, while keeping things that belong to the filament itself: temperatures, flow ratio, pressure advance.
Agreed that the stock profiles are a good starting point. The goal is only to keep your per-filament calibration, not the machine-specific workarounds. Thanks for pushing on this.
I have an H2C with AMS PRO2 and HT. Couple months ago I printed a model with Elegoo PAHT-CF using the right nozzle, which is now NOT encouraged on the H2C due to tight feed tube bending. Fine. But my 20 hour print in that right nozzle with vortek 0.6mm configuration worked just fine, and I wanted to print it again using the locally stored job on the printer.
After either a printer, AMS, or Bambu Studio update (near Sept 2026) I couldn’t run that saved print anymore on the printer, because you could no longer select ANY filament for the right nozzle, the selectable filament list was drastically shortened. So the job on my printer wouldn’t run because no loaded filaments matched the job.
Tried rolling back printer firmware versions, but the available filament list for right nozzle never changed.
Tried creating custom filament in Bambu Studio, Prepare tab, Project Filaments, gear, custom filaments, created a custom filament for my Elegoo PAHT-CF. Forum Posts said to sync that onto printer you must edit filament in AMS from printer screen by pressing the “refresh” button on filament selection, but still no custom filaments showed up for right nozzle.
After having the custom filament in my Bambu Studio “Prepare” tab, ended up having to use the new “Filament Manager” tab on newer versions of Bambu Studio. Added my Elegoo PAHT-CF filament in the “Filament Manager” tab. Then my custom filaments showed up for the left nozzle via the printer touchscreen, but still not for the right nozzle. But now I could edit the filament type in Bambu Studio, Device tab, AMS edit, I was finally able to put my PAHT-CF into an AMS attached to right nozzle. It showed up on the printer screen after that point and my stored printer job would now run just fine.
Hope this helps someone get custom filament profiles running on the right nozzle of a H2C running up to date firmware H2C 01.02.00.00 and Bambu Studio 2.8.2.61.
