Filament Profile

Out of curiosity I ran a first layer test for a new spool of Creality PETG. Creality recommends a temperature of 230 - 250, so I set a custom profile temp at 240 with a minimum of 230 to maximum of 250. What a mess! Lifting and poor adhesion to the build plate. I tried a bunch of different settings with no luck. Then I used the Generic PETG profile that has a printing temp of 255. A near perfect first layer!

I wonder why that is.

Because it’s usually better to test with generic then, depending on results, ramp it up or down until it delivers what you want.

With that said, I’ve always started with a generic profile and working from there, and I rarely need to make adjustments to the generic profiles.

Was the recommendation for the BambuLab H2x printers or a general recommendation? Because you can forget about the latter. Bambu printers require higher temperatures because they print faster than most standard 3D printers.
I always use generic profiles for other filaments if the manufacturer doesn’t offer specific ones for the Bambu H2x printers.

It was the Generic profile from Bambu Studio.
After giving it some thought, I have to agree with you. If we are to force filament through these tiny orifices, the plastic has to be much less viscous.
