Filament ran out(shut machine down?)

My machine ran out of filament during a large print. New filament is on the way, but its gonna be a few days. Is there a way to shut the machine down and resume at that time, or does it have to stay powered up?

Your best bet will be to leave it on and wait otherwise if you turn it off the build plate will cool and the print base will release

Hi!

Depending on your print adhesion, and on the goal of your print, you can just switch off the printer (at the back of the machine) it will save energy BUT :

  • you may notice some marks corresponding to the print resume (like a seam, but worst)
  • If like me, you use glue for adhesion, then no problem, the print will remain on the bed without moving. Otherwise, be careful, as @ProtoSpyre said, the print base could release.
  • Obviously you won’t be able to use the printer while you wait

When restarting the printer, it will resume the print, no worry
