Filament Recommendations (PLA)

I’m relatively new to 3D printing. I just bought my A1 mini and AMS Lite last month during the Black Friday sale. So far, I’ve pretty much exclusively used Bambu filament. I’ve been happy with it so far, and I really like the RFID feature and the fact that there are pre-set settings for each type. The only thing I don’t like is the fact that shipping seems to take quite a long time. I’ve definitely had to think ahead in terms of what colors I might need. I’m wondering if there are any other filament brands that are available on Amazon that you would recommend as a suitable replacement when/if I can’t wait for Bambu to get to me. I really only print in PLA right now, and I’m looking for something that will “just work”. I know I’ll have to manually set the color with other brands, but I’d really like to have to mess with as few other settings as possible. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

I use a lot of Elegoo Pla+ and Pla Pro. Recently a lot of Sunlu Pla+ 2.0 also. They are on sale frequently on Amazon and on their own websites. Overture and Polymaker are both nice too but they are usually a little more pricey than those first two.

I use the “Generic PLA” setting on all of them.

If you don’t mind using the Generic normal-speed settings and have an A1 or X1 and use the autocal, almost anything quality (Sunlu, Esun, Elegoo, Polymaker, Overture) will work. There are a few pre-defined filament profiles for Overture, Polymaker and Esun built-in, take a look at those. For example there is a built-in Esun PLA+ profile.

If you want to use the Generic high speed settings it’s going to be a bit trickier, look for HS or HF filaments.

eSUN, specifically, also offer print profiles for Bambu Lab printers for their filaments on their website.

Good alternatives to PLA for your A1 mini would be filaments from Esun or Overture. These filaments typically provide stable results and don’t require too many settings. They can be found on Globy or Amazon. Although you will need to manually set the color.
