Apparently the filament broke just before entering hot end. AMS was not able to unload. I can’t physically pull it out. Have no idea how to open the unit that feeds filament to hot end. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Does Extruder Clog | Bambu Lab Wiki help?
Youll get very good at taking the extruder apart. I stopped all extruder jams with this. It was all heat creep. I figured it out after taking it apart while still hot. The whole extruder housing was extremely hot.
Thank you. I’ll practice taking extruder apart. Don’t exactly understand what you did. Will study it tomorrow and hopefully figure it out.
I had something like that happen to me. I found the wiki pretty helpful. Something good to know is that you can operate an X1 with the hot-end half unmounted.
E.g. you can pull the screws holding the hot-end out and carefully pull the hot-end out and hold it by the heat break fins or let it dangle by the cables. Then try to extrude using the front-panel 'til you see the filament coming out the bottom of the extruder or not. You can also heat the nozzle and carefully insert the needle from the tip to push filament out. Basically test the pieces in isolation to narrow down the problem.
If you truly have stuff stuck in the extruder (I did) you have to take it apart. It really helps having a spare extruder so you can keep printing 'til you have the peace to take the thing apart. It’s not difficult and the video linked off the wiki really shows what you need to do.
Thank you. I’m ordering another extruder today and will follow your suggestion.
