Filament stuck near nozzle in hotend assembly

I don’t know what this area is called, but I’ve been having tons of problems printing one particular model and in a Calibration, the micro lidar fails to calibrate. I finally opened the extruder housing and found filament stuck near the nozzle - I’m not sure what area this is called. Please see picture to see where the filament is stuck. It is stuck there hard and fast. How do I remove this?

Well it’s not good news. Your nozzle is visually bent and will need to be replaced. This is probably what is causing your other issues.

This can also just be the silicone sock over the nozzle if filament has migrated underneath.

Good point. That would explain the plastic above the silicon sock. I would still check to see if the nozzle is straight.

Any idea how I can get the lavender filament out? I’ve tried scraping with no luck. I’ll also order a new nozzle.

I’d first heat the nozzle to the filaments melting temp to be able to slide the silicone sock cleanly off using pliers. It slides off downwards. Then you can see if the nozzle is bent or even broken and needs replacement.

If it is not bent, you should be able to remove the plastic from the heated nozzle (but take care not to touch the hot nozzle) before sliding a new silicone sock on.

If you are having trouble sliding off the silicone sock, you can also first remove the hotend and then have a closer look.
