Filter change reminder

It would be very useful if after certain hours the printer could remind us to change the internal filter (like it does with other maintenance). This is particularly for the X1, but people are using other solutions like Bento Boxes or other filters, so it would be nice if we could set a Filter reminder after x hours.

What for?
Those filters remove chemicals and particles.
Not all filaments have a high VOC count, not all filaments produce high amounts of harmful fumes.
Good filters cost money and are consumables.
If you want both, clean air and getting the most life out of a filter you need a meter to check what comes out of the filter.
Once the activated carbon is full the VOC count on the outlet side will rise - indicating a filter change is due.
We don’t have to worry too much about particles unless you get a lot of dust in you printer, so I don’t think a check of pressure/air flow rate is required.

You can get quite cheap VOC meters on Ebay and Aliexpress…
Even ones for fixed installation - ideal if you wanted to integrate things and they all come with alarm options.

What for?

To be reminded that the filter has reach the working life:
Bambu Activated Carbon Air Filter has a working life of 1440 hours (60 days) cumulative printing time.

Still…
My air purifier has similar statements for the filter…
Does not mean the filter is toast by that time, does not mean it is toast long before.
If I use it to clear the air after vacuuming or such it lasts like forever and only the particle filter becomes an issue.
Using in the room with my laser cutter when the laser is doing overtime means the filter is toast in a fraction of the state lifespan.

Yes a timer for the default replacement time seems nice to have…
Same for a cheap 10kg bag of activated carbon and a printed carbon filter…
for those not even 10 bucks Bambu is charging I don’t know if it is worth the hassle though.
But in all fairness I do support your call for a timer to make things easier.

Do you have any recommendation for VOC meters or air purifier?

Ebay or Aliexpress for basically any cheap Voc meter.
Filter ?
For many years all I used was a 20cm diameter PVC pipe with a bunch of sreens holding bags filled with activated carbon pellets.
And well, some inline fan for hydroponics use with a a potentiometer to adjust the fan speed.
Changed the carbon once a year, not because it started to fail, just because I had a 20kg bag of the stuff…

Based on TS’s measurements, the enclosure does little. So, the built in filter doesn’t do much either. Really need negative pressure to remove VOCs and Microplastic particles.

I used to sit all day next to my printer (10 yrs ago). Now it’s in its own room, with an exhaust hose/duct fan sucking everything out to the window.
