Fine first layer details tips

Hello,
I’m quite new to Bambu Lab with my P1S but have been 3D printing to and from for a few years now. Does anybody have any tips on settings to improve fine details like texts and symbols printed on the initial layer?

I’m printing some gauges and panels right now and getting very erratic results. Sometimes small details do make it into the print, sometimes not. Sometimes i get small holes in the first layer around said fine details.

Is there any variable line width settings or something like this?

I’m using PETG and 0.2mm Nozzle on Texured PEI plate. Usually I’m only using two colors. Black background and white for the symbols/text. Any tips in the slicer would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. You’ll want to use the “Arachne” wall generator which allows line widths below the nozzle diameter to be printed.

Edit: Scroll through the Quality tab entries to find the wall generator setting.

Thank you, I will try it! Do you know any good starting points I should try for the arachne settings? What is the difference between minimum wall width and minimum feature size?

Im looking for fine quality on for example if i have an arrow, or a line that gets thinner i usually end up with under-extrusion because the slicer slices with gaps in between the lines, which is too much so it ends up showing on the print (the lines do not fuse together) I’ve gotten away fairly okay with it so far by adjusting the Initial layer line width and setting it to a number that works okay-ish for all the details.

I’d suggest to just start with the defaults. Make sure that Arachne is active not only on the text, but also on the surrounding surface. So just give it a try when using Arachne defaults at a global level.
