Firmware cuts corners?

Hi

I’ve just updated to firmware 01.06 and Bambu Studio 1.7.1.62 and printed this mouldbox. The corners somehow came out rounded - quite severly. The external corners are 3mm chamfers, yet they look very much like roundovers. I don’t see this in the previewer, so I expect it to be an issue with the new firmware and not slicer related… Any idea what’s going on and how to prevent it? I need my crisp corners back :frowning:

There also seem to be an underfill issue… I’m using ironing to clean top surfaces and adaptive layer heights.

Not sure I’ve noticed a change to how sharp the edges are, but 3D printers aren’t terribly good at making super edgy edges. The nature of the movements (fast and continuous) lead to rounded corners. You may be able to improve it with more calibrations, but not sure you can get sharp edges.

I do think you can get better than you are getting, but first sort out the flow ratio. You look to be a fair bit off. I’d run a test or simply add .03 -.05 to the ratio. I’d imagine that will get you in the ball park. Then run a pressure advance test to get the edges a little closer. Also, when the situation is right, a edge on the Z axis should be significantly sharper, so slicing can help with some situations (not the pictured one though).

Again, I do think your edges can be better, but first fix the obvious issues. Don’t try fine tuning one problem on top of another, you’ll be chasing your tail.

Thanks for the input. I did run the new auto calibration before starting the print. I’ll try dialing in the numbers manual and give it another try.

Have you tried putting a modifier cube around your corners to slow the speed down to something like 10mm/s?
