Firmware Update for H2C

I can see that the H2D has a firmware version that is 01.03.00.00 (20260303). My H2C has version 01.01.05.00 (20260211).

I guess these do not share the same firmware? My printers all say they have the latest version. The H2D version has some of the stuff I have been waiting for:

  1. Added support for remotely enabling the drying function.
    Users can now turn on the drying feature for the AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT from both Bambu Studio and Bambu Handy. Ensure the latest update is installed for both.

  2. Added support for printing while filament is drying when using AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT. (Lower drying temperature during printing)

  3. Added BirdsEye camera initialization for the Cutting Module.

These are things I have been waiting for. There doesn’t seem to be a public beta forum for the H2C so I can’t find any information on it and if there is even a public beta.

Does anyone have any more information on the firmware for the H2C.

Just be patient… You don’t want a rushed firmware. It’s not something that’s never coming, but when it comes we all hope it’s stable and well tested.

I understand that…. I was asking if anyone knew if there was any information about it. Is there a BETA? Is the a forum group talking about it?

No there is no beta as of yet for it as far as I am aware.

H2D beta came first, now stable

H2S a few months later now stable

I am guessing in a few weeks time we will see the same for the H2C.

H2D is the BETA if that make sense ;p

But H2C was the BETA for H2D as well.

It takes turns, they are kinda like branches from the same tree.

Bambu made some noise a while back about how the firmware is all “modular” now from the same code base, but it seems highly likely that is not the case given the lack of H2C firmware for things that should be the same for all the H2 machines such as print while drying.

If that is the case they should make that more clear since that also implies it won’t just match the h2d in changes but add more (how else can it become beta for the h2d again). Just knowing that would help h2c owners to be more relaxed while waiting.

Well, “modular” doesn’t specify how the implied individual “modules” fit together. A 1K piece jigsaw puzzle is also “modular.” :sweat_smile:
“Modular” by itself is just a vague term in general, a lot more marketing than technical spec. Maybe all marketing terms should carry disclaimers.

As far as I understand, this is not a correct statement. They are different printers with different capabilities and each will have its own beta. Based on the H2D and then the H2S, when the beta drops support will make a thread here in this forum stating such. When it is complete, they post that the official version has dropped and close the beta.

The H2 series is what’s often referred to as a “scalable architecture”. The machines exist in a hierarchy. H2S is the “baseline” configuration, one non-swapping nozzle. The H2D is the H2S with two non-swapping nozzles. The H2C is the H2D with one non-swapping and up to 6 swapping nozzles. The core components are all the same (like the motion stage), which means the core firmware is leverageable across all 3 machines. This is probably what they mean by “modular”. A lot of the code can be used across the entire family without any changes.

The new bambu studio version has multiple references to H2C firmware 01.02.00.00, so it’s coming but when is the question. I bet it shouldn’t be too long now.

The beta for the H2D ran from Jan 29 to March 02, and the H2S beta followed from March 09 to March 31. If you look closely, you can definitely spot a pattern there.

I don’t think it will take much longer; I’m personally expecting a release by the end of this month at the latest. Of course, that’s pure speculation on my part. It’s also possible that the X2D release pushed the schedule back a bit.

It is what it is—the update will arrive eventually. At the very least, we can see that preparations in Bambu Studio are already underway.

I think the pattern has been make a commitment to add features/accessories then launch them 7-9 months later.

By this pattern, it should already be here unless S stands for Simple, D for Decent and C for Complicated…

I guess my question is: Whether remotely or not, can I have drying while printing on the H2C/AMS2 Pro? I have not figured out how to get that. I have the power adapter.

You cannot until bambu releases the firmware to allow it

If you have multiple AMS 2 Pros and/ or AMS HTs and you have enough power adapters, you can dry in any of the AMS units not in use while you are printing though.

Currently, neither remote control nor drying during printing is possible. These two functions will only be available with the next update, at least on the H2C. The H2S and H2D already have them.

That’s insane. Flagship printer from a manufacturer is the last to get features.
A customer service agent told me a week ago that it was already a function of the H2C. What do they know, apparently.
