I have tried 3 times now to update my P1s but it keeps failing at 48%

Any ideas?

Check to see if your SD card is near full. You could also try a different SD card (formated via the printer interface).

I tried that. If the screen messages on the printer are anything to go by then it seems to be failing the initial download, not the actual installing. It’s still working happily at 1.09

Try an offline update, which will separate the download process from the update process.

The P1s V01.10 is not yet available on the firmware download page. It’s on the release history page though. I also tried doing it via the Handy app, but it also died at 48%.

I’ll wait a week and try then.

I have had this for a few weeks now, tried every suggestion so far with no sucess. Will wait and see the official response from BL.

Happened to me too, on my P1S. Message on screen said to power off the printer and power it back on. I did this, waiting 20 seconds before powering back on, and then started the firmware update manually and it worked! Finally got past 48%

Sadly no good. Left it off for 5 mins, still failed at 48%

When I read the original comment I thought maybe I wrote it and forgot about it. The exact same thing is happening here. BL told me to hold my printer closer to my router. Happy I found this thread before I moved the printer downstairs.

My printer is less than 18” (400mm) from my router! :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Oh 18" is too close, you need to move it further away, obviously! And never trust the signal strength indicator on the printer, it’s just there to look important.

j/k of course. There’s no excuse for BL not posting offline firmware updates/versions in a timely manner (if at all). I had a similar/same issue with download when I first got my H2C (0-day patch, lol), though in my case eventually the update succeeded (4th try IIRC, with restarts). That was also the only time I needed to have the printer online.

OK, you confirmed my suspicions. In this case closer may not necessarily be better.

Tried several more times yesterday. Same result. Good news is that the issue I had with the printer does not seem to be firmware related.

So we trudge on.

I tried the offline update, I don’t have the option to do an offline upgrade. I’m on 1.09.01.00 and 0.0.06.75 on the AMS.

My P1S failing to update the firmware to 1.10. Currently on 01.09.01.

I have tried…

  1. Downloading and installing directly from the P1S itself
  2. Upgrading via Bambu Handy (Android)
  3. Upgrading via Bambu Studio (Windows)
  4. Taking the printer offline and performing an offline update via MicroSD card

And then…

  1. Disconnecting the AMS and repeating the previous steps 1-4
  2. Replacing the MicroSD card with a brand-new one and repeating the steps 1-4
  3. Factory resetting printer, then repeating the previous steps 1-4

I’m experiencing a very similar issue with my P1S, but with a specific detail: my update fails at 48% when using the network, but fails at exactly 50% when attempting an offline update via SD card.

Like others have mentioned, I have a second P1S unit on the same network that updated perfectly, so this is definitely an issue with this specific machine.

The fact that it fails at 48/50% is critical. On the P1 series, this is usually the transition point where the mainboard (MC) finishes its update and attempts to handshake with the Toolhead Board (TH Board) or other peripherals to begin their flash process.

What I’ve tested on this specific unit:

  • Network: Tried mobile tethering to rule out router/DNS issues (still fails at 48%).

  • Offline: Used multiple FAT32 SD cards for offline update (fails at 50%).

  • Hardware: Disconnected the AMS, re-seated the toolhead cable, and checked all internal MC board connectors.

  • Reset: Multiple factory resets performed.

Despite these failures, the printer still functions and prints perfectly on the current firmware. It seems like a specific hardware communication “timeout” is happening during the peripheral flash stage.

Has anyone found if this is caused by a faulty TH Board or the internal bus cable connecting the MC to the Toolhead?

So, after multiple attempt, like most of you, it failed at 48%. But I just found a way to make it work for me.

  • Went to WLAN menu and put the printer in LAN Only Mode
  • Rebooted the printer
  • Downloaded the 1.07 firmware version
  • I did an offline update (or downgrade since I was on 1.09.01)
  • After the downgrade to 1.07 the printer prompted me to upgrade to 1.09.01
  • Updated the printer to 1.09.01
  • After the reboot, the printer prompted me to upgrade to 1.10
  • It work on that “first” try of 1.09.01→1.07→1.09.01→1.10

Hope it works for other. It took me about 15min to complete that process.

Testing this right now, so far it’s re-doing the 1.09.01 update, will keep everyone posted.

This worked for me too. Thanks for posting the solution as I have had an open support request with Bambu for a week with no helpful response so far….
