Hello! I am writing through a translator and ask you to understand if there are errors. Got the printer today and installed all the updates. Firmware 01.04.01.00. When I give a print job from a slicer or from the printer’s internal memory, after the first layer it starts checking it, despite the fact that I turned it off. After the inspection, the error “First Layer Inspection terminated due to abnormal Lidar data.” appears. It seems to me that it shouldn’t be like that.
upd. it doesn’t turn on the light or laser when it tries to check the first layer.
OK. I have not used this printer for a long time, but I have seen it turn on lights when checking the flow. So this is normal. It remains to find out why it starts inspecting the layer when this option is disabled.
There is a purple-shaded light that is visible when checking the flow. There is also an infra-red light that is visible as a red glow if you look through the camera view. It uses this light when checking the first layer.
I have the same situation on my X1C.
The Filament I use is PETG and I can not get it working without ozing. That is not a problim while printing since the movement is so fast.
But after the first layer is printed it does the inspection and a nozzle cleanup, thats when the problems begin…
nozzle cleanup always keeps a big amount of material sticking to the nozzle and I have to be fast with the pliers to get it of the way.
Turning out the First layer inspection soes not skip the steps, it only disables the lidar that leeds to an error…
I’ve had several spectacular first layer failures and not once have they been captured by first layer inspection. Not only does first layer inspection not catch anything, it adds further risk by possibly dropping boogers on my first layer or clogging my nozzle.
Since I’ve lost all faith in the first layer inspection I’d like to disable it, but unchecking that box doesn’t prevent the machine from pausing after the first layer and pointlessly running over the top of my print.
Does this really need to be disabled in the slicer?
You won’t beleve, I;ve just started a print after yesterday having trouble with filament stuck in the machine and many off/on switching.
It did no 1st layer inspection!!!
Don’t ask me why, but like the IT guys keep saying “have you turned off and on again?”
Maybe its simple as that, maybe this “do inspection” value will be read when the machine powers up!?
This is happening to me too and ruining a lot of prints! is there maybe a reason why our nozzles are not being cleaned properly ? Or is this feature just not good? Can we stop the printer from purging? is there any real benefit ?
For me, after switching the setting to not do the first layer inspection, it doesn’t turn it off from printing until you turn off the machine and back on again. Like Dominator and the IT Crowd said. Must have to power cycle the machine I guess in order for it to register the setting change.
