First Layer is too low i think

Hello everyone I have been using the Bambulab A1 with AMS lite for 2 weeks now. In the beginning everything was perfect I could print PLA and PETG without any problems. A few days ago the first layer stopped working properly and I am no longer successful. In my opinion, the first layer is much too close and is therefore rubbed onto the plate. I have already done “A1 Bed Tramming” as described in the wiki but it has not improved. Does anyone else have an idea of what is going wrong here? Software and firmware are up to date. I’ve already cleaned the disk with isopropanol, but that didn’t help either.

Is your first layer still set at the default height? Have you changed your z-offset in gcode? Have you been putting anything like glue on the plate?

If not maybe the hot end has loose screws. Either the 3 mounting screws or the screws on the backside of the hotend heating assembly.

Edit: I can see in the video your extruder is clicking. Either there is not enough room between the hotend and the plate to extrude to the point that the extruder is clicking, maybe you have a smaller nozzle selected than you have installed or maybe you have some kind of partial clog?

I want to thank you…. After a week of pulling my hair your trouble shooting helped me figure out our clicking and poor first layer headache….

Turned out 2 screws had come out completely and were in the little shelf on the bottom and one more stew was almost out….

Thanks a ton

Glad you got it figured out

That worked perfectly for me, thank you.

Thank you so much, this was the solution for me as well

I have my first layer too close and too much squish, I check the screws in the plate behind hot end but that didn’t solve my issue, is there a simple way to change the z offset for all prints?

I’m not sure for bambu studio, for orcaslicer yes you can change z offset easily by printer profile.

I want to add my thanks here as well. This worked for me too!

  1. Remove your hot end nozzle
  2. Remove the three black screws behind the hot end
  3. Tighten the four black screws on the back of the heating assembly
  4. Reassemble
  5. Re-run calibrations

Thanks again!

I had the same issue after around 1500h of printing with my A1 - too tight first layer. I tried a few things like cleaning nozzle tip, cold pull to clean it from inside. Then, following the advice here, I checked the screws, and indeed, one screw was missing and other three quite loose:

After tightening the remaining three and reassembling the first layer turned out just perfect. I’ll do the same maintenance to my second, a bit older A1 which has 2500h and doesn’t show the signs of this first layer issue. Thanks for the tip.

I having trouble while printing in a1.
It prints perfect but starting each layer add a small extra at the starting. And this small extra is added in all layers. What should i do
