Over the last week, I have been attempting to print the same object, a very large letter, but to no avail. the issue i have is the first layer will not stick. I have tried everything i can think of, from fan speed settings to bed temperatures to cleaning the cool plate 3 separate times, to not using glue stick, almost everything. at this point i have no clue what o do other than ask if anyone else has had a similar problem, or if anyone has some presets that work great for them. I am printing with polymaker PLA pro on the cool plate with the X-1 Carbon combo.
Hi,
Is the failure exclusive to the model? i.e. can you successfully print with the same filament and plate?
Still, things that you can test: power cycle and reset to factory settings.
I’ve never gotten anything to stick to the cool plate either. Use the engineering plate or a PEI plate. The gold textured PEI plate is my favorite for PLA and PETG.
Picture of a bad first layer will help people offer better suggestions. Guessing from your description is just going to get you guesses for a solution.
I never had luck with the cool plate, I use the engineering plate and set the plate temp to 35c.
I have attempted other models, particularly from the default models that come preinstalled on the printer, which also failed, indicating it is either the filament, or the plate. i also tested the preinstalled print with bambu filament, to see if it is the filament or the plate, and that printed fine, so i suspect i nedd to try a diferent plate or different settings. Thanks for your help
The presliced models (at least the one I tested) were sliced for Bambu Labs filament.
I suppose you are using the generic settings and not the ones for Bambu labs filaments; if not, this is likely the cause of the issue.
If you are using the correct settings, dry the filament.
First off try the same print with a different roll of PLA Pro.
I had a similar problem and eventually discovered that my supplier had supplied me with a roll of ABS in a PLA box. After changing my settings to ABS that was the end of my adhesion problems. I only buy PLA and this was the last thing I expected to be the problem with my prints.
Would be interesting to hear if anyone else has also found that the supplier mixed up the filament type ABS filament in a PLA box.
Surprised you couldn’t smell the difference right away!
