I’m pretty familiar with the cooling settings on BS, but I can’t figure out how to stop it from treating infill as bridging or overhangs. This only happens with the first shell layer over infill.
I have overhang and bridging slowed down to 30mm/s, and in cooling, Forced cooling for overhangs and bridges. I need these settings for ACTUAL bridges and overhangs on these models. Printing a shell layer over infill would be considered a 90 degree overhang? Therefore it treats it as such. How to I get it to distinguish between the two?
Any help with someone experiencing this same feature, let me know.
Thank you!
This is just what the Prusa-slicker (and derivitaves such as Bambu Studio) do. Consider that the first shell layer over a sparse infill is bridging.
This is a massive feature and a reason bambu slicer is winning. It is unfortunate that bambu does not trust its users to be smart enough to have TWO WHOLE KNOBS. One for internal top surfaces, one for bridging. Maybe try softfever fork. They have graciously unlocked many knobs bambu has hidden from us peasants.
I mean, it does make sense that the shell layer over sparse infill would be treated like bridging. Though this is causing big issues when laying this layer with difficult filament, that doesn’t like to adhere when there is too much cooling. I will have 90% cooling for bridging, which is way too much for the shell layer. There are some critical prints that I can’t do because of this, unless I’m on front of the printer to turn the fan down when it gets to this layer.
A slicer like Cura does not do this. So what do they have figured out that Bambu Slicer doesn’t.
I believe different slicers have had more success in one area than others, and have coded their product to do certain things differently. Cura, too, probably has it’s weak areas.
Anyway, @Nimrod’s suggestion to try OrcaSlicer, and see what knobs and levers it gives you, is sound.
I appreciate the info. I agree with what you’re saying and Cura has a TON of weak areas and ultimately I like Prusaslicer way better. This is a setting, though I wish would be taken into consideration and resolved in BS. I haven’t gone as far as downloading Orcaslicer yet, and this would be the first reason why I might.
Thank you!
