First Solid Infill Layer Over Spares Bridge Tearing

In this picture you see the “Bridges” over the Spares Infill, and then were I cancelled the print to examine the issue.

What’s happening is first layer of the “Internal solid infill” is tearing when attempting to print over Spares Infill Bridges.

I have both the Bridge and Internal solid infill speed set to 30mm/s. It is being printed with the 0.08mm Extra Fine profile.

Any ideas how to fix this?

30mm/s and 0.08 is REALLY low flow for such a wide area. =~1mm3/s

Some filaments really do not like that and shows up in wierd ways. IMO go faster.

So this time I did a manual Flow Dynamics and Flow Rate calibration. I then set it to the 0.16mm High Quality profile and left everything else default (including faster as Bullocks suggested).

On the plus side at least it fails a few layers sooner now.

Failure still continues. This time I tried changing the Infill Direction to 90deg, just to see that helped. It didn’t.

Looking at it with a magnifying glass, it almost looks like mid “Bridge”, the plate is dropping down and tearing the filament.

Is that a thing? Is there a setting for that?


Really strange. You should try to observe it in action, IRL, or if you have a recording. To me, it looks like it is emitting a bridge, which joins on the infill grid, but then cools and contracts UPWARDS so hard that the bridge tears out. It has to happen after the nozzle leaves, cuz the nozzle is literally in that space. If that’s actually whats happening you could force it to behave better by adding infill % to have smaller lengths between posts. maybe just in that area. Or maybe filament settings are what is causing it to be unruly.

And if you continue testing id recommend cutting the model into just one third to optimize time/waste

It’s baffling and frustrating. I just put a new 0.4 hotend kit on it, did a factory reset and fresh calibration. Made no difference, still fails the same way.

2 days, 8 attempts, and 40g of wasted filament later, I give up. It’s just a simple box. I’m just printing it with 100% infill.

Solved! I finally found the solution!

In the Bambu Slicer, under Quality > Advanced > “Bridge flow”.

The default is 1. It looks like the typical suggested reduction is to 9 or 8.

With Bambu PETG-CF, I am running this value at 0.78m and it is now producing flawless bridges and subsequent layers over them.
