Hey everyone! I was hoping I could get some help printing with FlashForge flexible PLA.I’ve dialed my settings in a bit to get successful prints, however my prints are still struggling with support damage as pictured. I went this route with the filament because from what I’ve read it’s supposedly as easy to print as PLA and that only speed settings were needed to be adjusted, however for me this prints more like TPU with varied differences. I prefer this to TPU so far and I like the squish and feel in comparison.
I slowed down my printer and changed my volumetric speed to match more of TPU otherwise the prints were failing.
I still need to properly calibrate the filament which I havent done just yet. So my default K value is 0.019.
Is there anything else I can do to improve the support material and the ease of release? I tried tree settings previously and with flexibles it always ended up poorly. Ideally I’d like a clean pull away similar to how my PLA is set now.
If I understand your request, you’re dissatisfied with the way the support structures are separating from your model. If that is indeed the goal, chasing filament tuning is unlikely to achieve much change but it is a worthy start. However, there may be an easier more mechanical method that I don’t see having been tried based on your post.
Try this in the following order one item at a time, print and then measure the results:
Change the spacing of the supports to a value greater than 1 MM
Increase the spacing between the top and bottom layers, 0.5mm is a good start
Decrease and increase the number of interface layers to find the sweet spot for this filament
Awesome thanks a lot and an amazing explanation! I come from Enders and the number one thing I learned is 1 variable at a time lol. I’ll make sure to try these methods after work and update with results!
Just wanted to say thank you again for your advice! I dabbed with the settings one by one and found the sweet spot! With the advice you provided I have more confidence in support knowledge altogether. These new ones leave a bit of scarring, but are so easy to remove!
Well indeed. Thanks for sharing your results. That’s the second half of the battle, not just getting a suggestion from this group but sharing what does and does not work. Plus… it ain’t a bad feeling when you win a battle against the machine either…
