Floating Cantilever

Hi, I purchased some files and the quality has been really good. The only problem I’m having is when I slice the files, I get the floating cantilever error. It’s accurate, I just don’t know how to fix it. Still pretty new to tools like Blender. I’ve contacted the seller and let them know what the issue is. I’m more curious if there’s a kind of easy fix for it. I’ll try to upload screen shots of the problem before and after slicing. I’ve tried searching for solutions but am not finding anything that has worked. Thanks a lot.

From what it looks like, it’s made up of about 3 sections and the middle section isn’t being treated as a solid or the slicer is having a hard time working with the mesh. You can see it pretty clearly by the visible seam in your picture.

Are you getting any errors talking about non-manifold edges by chance? Pretty common to see odd slicing like this when the model is non-manifold. If so, you can try to let the slicer fix it for you.

Depending on if you were provided the CAD file or an STL, you could probably fix it yourself if you have some level of modeling experience. If it were me, I wouldn’t attempt to fix it, but instead have the seller repair their model since you paid for it.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I’m not getting any errors about non-manifold edges, just the floating cantilever. It’s a supplied STL file. I’m a novice when it comes to modeling experience, so fixing it might be a little more than I’m comfortable with. I figured I’d throw it out there and see if there was a “simple” fix. Otherwise, I’m more than happy to let the seller repair them. My theory is that he created the top portion where the seam is and dropped it on top with some tiny layers to keep it on top. It’s like this on many files. Thanks.
