Flow Rate Pruge

Hello !

I was wondering why the purge of this specific filament looks so different to all other purges.

You can spot the difference between the Violet and the other colored filament by diameter. The violet seems to have a very high flow rate when purging, or what does cause such thing?

Sadly, I am unable to attach JSON presets.

But here some pics

And in comparison, the black filament.

This is most likely due to different additives mixed in the PLA. You have similar effects between matte and glossy PLA. Your profiles show, that you also have two different PLA mixtures, black is their PLA+ while the violet is their silk version.

Unfortunately, eSUN does not provide the MSDS for the PLA eSilk, but here is the one for the PLA+: https://www.esun3d.com/uploads/PLA+-MSDS.pdf

As you see, it has between 4 and 8 % different additives, which change the flow characteristics as well.

Sounds as this is the case, thanks for the quick response. Can I change somehow how fast / what flow rate the filament is purged ? As reducing, it seems to do a quicker transition between other filaments to reduce waste. If not, it’s also no problem.

Thanks again for the rapid response !

Not sure about the flow rate, but you can change the amount of filament that is purged:

Maybe you can do something with the filament start or end G-Code regarding the flow rate. But that is just a guess, as I do not use this a lot. I just use the AMS myself for support material

Okay thanks, btw should I open a new topic as I started to upload my presets for some filaments, do you think this could benefit others and maybe also commit to it ?
