For those with z-banding problems

For everyone with Z-banding problems.

It is due to the freedom of movement of the Z spindle nuts. Since the nuts cannot be easily replaced and there must always be play due to the system, here is my advice, which has 100% eliminated all of the problems for me.

Increases the Z-hop from 0.4 to 0.8mm.

Basically the same principle as the expensive CNC machines with spindle compensation. BambuLab could actually help with the software here and integrate something like this into the firmware.

It would make sense here to have sufficient travel distance from the same direction, hence the increased Z-hop, and to adjust the acceleration values.

Hi, Iā€™m a rookie. Could you help me find these settings?

Can you explain more about the spindle nuts and how using a different z-hop impacts them? Is this something to do with backlash?

Has anyone else made this change and can they post before/after pics?

Hi, just try it out. It only takes a few seconds and you can see a significant improvement.

In the meantime I have cleaned my spindles thoroughly and now use a little oil instead of grease.

The surface of my prints is now absolutely perfect again.

When I have time I will develop a modification to lubricate it automatically.
