Force Zhop without Reduce infill retraction

Hi i’m using reduce infill retractions off to make the nozzle for the lift so it doesn’t drag over the infill…

I don’t really like this because its putting a lot of stress on the extruder with all the extra retractions but I don’t know a way to just force Zhop on all movement?

Can someone advise me.

I think you are looking for “z hop when retract” in the “Setting overrides” of the filament settings (little box next to the filament name).

Hi, no I’m already using that.

I want to force Zhop on all travel movements. Right now Zhop is linked to retraction so if there is a travel movement (across infill) with no retract it won’t zhop.

Thanks!

Ah, sorry. Not sure if that can be enforced in Studio.

But depending on the problem you are trying to solve, there may be simpler solutions.

  • I assume you are already avoiding crossing walls?
  • Try to avoid crossing infills and surfaces. They can vause speed bumps. Use Gyroid, Honeycomb, Monotonic, etc rather than grids.

Its better with gyroid but still hits…
I want to Zhop on all these horizontal travels but it can’t…

But it only hops on these small travels not on the big ones…

We should be able to force hops over all surfaces when travelling…

Mhm, from this, it looks like you have done everything right:

But the problematic travel move is from a prior layer rather than from the one selected in the screenshot.

Look closely at the long travel move for the specifically selected layer to verify that the slicer is ignoring your z-hop setting. Here’s an example from my current print:

Yea I just can’t force a Zhop on these large travels without a retraction.

Kind of sucks cause you just put stress on your extruder for no reason…
