Forum is unfriendly to new users

I was gonna say forums seems to be magnets for those who want to stroke their ego and usually don’t have the smarts to match it.

Even glancing through some of the responses someone interjects with “facts” they believe disqualify the OP from posting in the first place.
Exactly what I was talking about.

Don’t worry though, there’s a fair amount of folks here to help and not argue, despite some want to raise their rep by discrediting yours.

Yes… I am a new user - but I am a verified owner, with active use on the printer under this account.

Yet, I can’t post my own thread about the issue I am having with a loose wire on the right hot end.

I had to google “Why can’t I post on bambu labs forum” - to randomly find this post.

Instead, I have to runa round randomly commenting on things to build my trust up, which provided little value to the OP, nor myself.

I don’t know why anyone thinks random comments improve trust levels, but this is false.

See Understanding Discourse Trust Levels or read the email you received when you signed up for the forum.

TLDR version: Spend 10 minutes or more reading at least 30 posts in five topics to raise your Trust Level to Basic, which allows starting new topics and posting pictures.

Here’s a dirty little secret on how to bypass the first level in 5 seconds.

The rules say that you have to have read a certain number of posts. But what if I told you you only have to “open” a certain number of posts, you don’t have to actually scroll through them?

Hold CTRL and click 30 posts from a search list using a term like “Bambu,” which appears in nearly every thread, giving you a list of over 30 posts—each opening in a new tab and counting as read. The list is long enough to avoid pagination. You’ve now unlocked level one trust to post your own thread. Voilà!

Because I can’t think of a single forum where I have these restrictions placed on me like I’m a toddler in time out waiting for go to recess. Also, was it the email with user that was created for me when I purchased several months ago? Or was it a new one that came across when I had to select my user name? Or, somewhere in between?

But at least you linked me a non bambu link, by seemingly the forum developer from ~6 years ago.

Yes, let me read EVERY email I get with buried details about timing/reading posts in 5 topics to raise my trust levels.

Its OK to admit this isn’t the best thing ever - I promise, the Bambu police won’t come after you.

They have the details of my order, shipping address, credit card. That should be MORE than enough for me to auto-pass any sort of “spam check”.

You seem to imply that this forum is directly connected to BambuLab. And I think that is a common misunderstanding. This is a public forum and its only connection to BambuLab is that they have users here that sometimes read some of the messages.

This forum knows nothing of things you mentioned. It doesn’t even have a way to confirm that you are who you say you are. You could have one username in MakerWorld and a completely different one here. They are not connected.

The majority of the users here are not even associated with BambuLab, they are just here to try to help the community.

Even with the current protections in place we seem to get plenty of SPAM. Usually because of an external reference prompting others to come here.

With all that, most of the regulars here really just want to help. But don’t expect BambuLab to be one to respond to most messages. They usually don’t.

So I guess being part of the domain bambulab.com - and also having the user name associated with my login credentials at bambulab.com, which also has all my information… means that forum.bambulab.com and bambulab.com are connected in quite a few ways.

Using OAuth tokens which are associated with my email - which I used to create the account at bambulab.com (noticed - NOT forum.bambulab.com)…

So I disagree entirely with your post that these are not connected in multiple ways.

That being said, I do not expect Bambu Labs to respond to my posts, nor do I believe I implied they would.

So, understanding that people are here to be helpful, I have also noticed there is a lot of circling of wagons and defensive posturing. Your reply was quite unhelpful, so unfortunately, I think we failed at that too.

If the forum isn’t useful to you, you don’t have to use it. And unfortunately, many who need help don’t understand that to get useful answers/help, they need to provide some information.

Every forum I use has some kind of requirement for gaining posting privileges whether it’s time spent reading, reading and acknowledging forum rules, or something else because spammers love forums.

On this board there were a number of spammer events before these other requirements were implemented. New people now don’t see the spam because the rules here help minimize it. Had you been here back then you’d clearly see the need to throw some obstacles in the way. They were necessary and I think most will say the same thing.

I completely agree that the fact that they use a sub-domain to host the forum implies that there is a connection between the systems. But that doesn’t make it true.

The fact that you used the same email address when you signed up to use the forum allows you to make a correlation between the systems, but that is not required.

I am very sorry that you found the information that I posted as unhelpful. I was only hoping to state facts and not impressions.

I’m struggling to understand this…
As well as the domain name, it has the above at the top of the forum.
Yes, we all know that you have more chance of winning the lottery than Bambu Lab replying to post, but it’s still got Bambu Lab’s name on it.

99.9% of people on the forum own a bambu lab printer, when we come together we are considered a community of bambu lab printer owners who may be able to help with printer and printing issues, based around our experience of using bambu lab printers, is that really so difficult to understand ?

 I guess this comment will double the chances of winning the lottery?

Jokes aside, it’s worth noting that the forum is read almost daily by multiple Bambu Lab employees from different teams, but the best way to offer support or information is usually in a ticket. We will do our best to be more active whenever possible.

This is the main reason for the limitations added to when you join the forum. There are multiple spam accounts created daily, and having such a filter helps keep the community clean.

From time to time, there’s instances of bots reaching past the filters, but it’s still better than no measures.
