Frankly Built is mad at me

I would like to formally address the false allegations Frankly Built has been suggesting about me and my models.
What I do is what I aways done, I remake paid for models in order to bring the community something similar for free. I NEVER use or pay for these peoples models.
I do however use the pictures they freely post online to recreate it. While that may be morally wrong it isn’t illegal. And I will not apologize for doing what I always done.

First off my Iron man Prime armor. Frank says I stole it from Walsh. Yet Walsh only made the helmet, where I made the hole suit.

As for the Mark 85 helmet - Yes I used there pictures to recreate mine.
You can go and download the two for your self and see. While they look very similar they are not in fact the same model. Just very close.

Name a model and I will post pictures from start to end of its creation.
I will never apologize for being good at my job, I been doing this for over 15 years now.

I tried sending Frank the work load to the models but he claims hes to busy to look at them. Not to busy to cry online about it tho.

just a question, designers who work on the basis of someone else’s registered IP, do you pay the licenses? just a sincere question

Honestly none of us are paying the Licensing fee. Its thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars per license.

Well, in that case, there is no topic to discuss, thieves complaining about other thieves, a bit absurd, enjoy it while it lasts and that’s it.

I would like some context. Can you point to where Frankly Built has called you out?

Guess he deleted it.

Some IP’s will let Fan Art go as long as it is given away to the community for free which Budwin is definitely doing. Like for instance, Wizard of the Coast has a fan art policy. As long as you don’t start selling stuff that they came up with you are good. You can check out notable MZ4250 for how he does it. Gives all of his stuff away for free but has a bunch of people supporting him.

Oh man.I replied to that facebook post this morning. I didn’t read others comments on there but most of them must have gone against him for him to take it down. I just looked and i can’t find my comment. I wonder if he even posts that video he’s talking about.

I saw that post earlier on FB and although I didnt read all the comments, the majority were in support of Budwin…

Interesting… Its such a nuanced subject.

Budwin claims to not profit off the IP they acknowledge they don’t have a license for, but actively sells models of those IPs:

I’m confident Budwin models their models on their own, although I personally dislike the part about using pictures of someone else’s model to model theirs. But either way, like it was said above, neither party has the right for the IPs.

I wasn’t going to say anything originally, but Budwin openly pointed fingers at others for profiting off the stolen IP pretending that they also didn’t do that: Community - Me - MakerWorld

My CGtrader store is linked here in my Social Media Links in my homepage. I never said I dont make money off my models. Or anything of that nature.
Cgtrader was for doing commissions. This has been stated before.

Someone commented this on your Community Post:

To which you responded:

“it’s still stealing IP from Marvel and Disney” and you responded with: “Only if you make money off it, And that’s what they do.” “They” referring to Frankly Built and implying that you are different and don’t make money off of it.

So either you don’t make money off it so it’s not stealing, or you do make money off of it and it is stealing, based off of your own comments

I was referring to the models that were claimed stolen.

Your models are set to exclusive though, so while you may not be directly charging people for the models, you’re still profiting off of them.

I don’t think you’ll ever fully find people in your favor. In situations like this, most people see it as people bickering over IPs they don’t actually have any rights or license to. You both profiting off of someone else’s work.

No , you both are right about that. I have nothing to say about IP. Those are the facts.

But aren’t all the models using existing IP anyway? Also, the alleged “stolen” models in question are in the Exclusive Model Program, which directly earns real money, so you’re still profiting off of the IP.

Either way, I’m here just to say that all those commenting the idea that IP rights don’t matter here because the models are free aren’t really accurate. Profits are being made and that already invalidates that idea, and even non-profit stuff of IP aren’t automatically clear because they’re non-profit.

You are right brother, I don’t have the right to talk about IP.
