From 95% Success to 100% Failure with .6 Nozzle?

I have now owned my X1C for about 4 months now. In that time I would be willing to say that my print success rate using a .6 nozzle with PC & PETG was running >95%. After the latest upgrade of firmware (1.6.1.0) and Bambu Studio (1.7.4.52) I went from >95% success to 100% failure. In all cases it failed within a minute, typically on the first layer with a large amount of blobs and stringing. In many cases it would not even lay down a good purge line (usually did not stick)

What I tried before finding a solution that worked:

  • New role of BBL PC (multiple roles all dried)

  • New role of BBL PETG (multiple roles all dried)

  • New role of Overture PETG

  • High Temp/Eng/Textured plates (all cleaned)

  • Glue / no glue

  • Factory Reset

Thus far the only solution I have found was to swap from my .6 nozzle back to the .4 delivered with the printer. For those of you wondering, this is a PC/PETG printer only so no CF based filaments.

Has anyone else seen any issues with .6 nozzles recently (software or hardware)? The nozzle appears normal other then it does not print.

I plan on ordering another .6 nozzle in the odd chance that its defective but in the mean time my printer seems to back up and running after two weeks of being down.

I don’t see “The Filament Calibrations” on your list. Did you do that?

I am recalibrating my filament materials for the nozzle 0.6mm, which are almost exclusively used for PA and PA´s composites and PLA-wood (40%). I also needed to do some prints in the middle, and to avoid changing the nozzle, I calibrated and printed with BL PC (the only one similar to the ones in your list) and PLA-CF. In all cases, I´ve been successful. Still, it took me more than expected to achieve the correct calibration values and print settings (blobs and stringing were typical until I tuned the flow ratio and reduced print temperature).

no 0.6 here , but after i upgraded to 1.6.3.0 seen quite a few issues on PETG and ASA with 0.4 nozzle , tried recalibrating and etc … a lot of usual things ( i use only manual values)
After factory reset and machine calibration all my issues were gone
Found it in the forums some other people experienced the same issues
On the previous firmware update to 1.6.1 (i think) , i had issues , then reverted and after some time i did update again, but did machine calibration and the issues were gone . This time only calibration did not help . But factory reset and machine calibrated worked

Issue Solved:

I must confess I can only guess about what solved my issues just like Im guessing as to what started it all. I believe the problems all started after doing a manual dynamic flow (maybe I selected the wrong nozzle size?). At the end of the day, the LAST thing I tried was a factory reset followed by replacing my .6 nozzle with the original .4 nozzle. As my previous posts suggest I tried just about everything with no change in symptoms. Towards the end I could not even get the .6 nozzle purge lines to stick to ANY plate even with glue.

The good news is after a factory reset and replacing the nozzle with a brand new .6 nozzle Im now back to successfully printing with Overture and Bambulabs PC and PETG with no issues. It took a week of torture but at the end of the day rule 25 says “Never argue with success”

At some point I might get ambitious and put the original .6 nozzle back in for testing purposes but right now Ive got too many print jobs backed up to risk screwing everything up again.
