Can anyone tell what the exact black screw is that is used to connect the fan to the front housing assembly? I dropped one during some maintenance and it disappeared into the quantum realm. I have the replacement screw kit but this one does not seem to be part of it? Seems like a waste to buy an entire new front panel for just one screw (pic is from another forum post as an example)…
A BT2 seems to fit the hole, but it would need a wider head to actually hold the fan in place.
If the other corner of the fan still has the screw, just move it to this missing spot and call it a day.
Wish I could do that, unfortunately printing with a missing fan screw would not give me a lot of peace of mind…
Took some measurements and indeed I believe it to be a BT2 screw of 6mm length, but the ~6mm diameter of the head makes it practically impossible to find, and I seem to need at least 4mm to hold the fan in place.
Like…what exactly do you think will happen? Look at the fan…and look at where it sits on the toolhead when installed. What would happen if it moved? Absolutely nothing.
Now put only one of the screws in place. Grab the other corner of the fan and pull on it. Does it move? No, not to any degree that matters.
So you have negligible movement, and nowhere for the part to go.
Your call. Keep struggling, or listen to someone who knows what they’re talking about and get back to printing.
If you’re that desperate to put a redundant screw in there, use a normal BT2 x6 and add a washer so the head is wider.
Not only is the screw missing, but the top of the mounting post is broken off. The top of the post should be flush with the fan body. This is a common failure point.
This is what you should see with the screw backed out a bit:
You may not be finding a long enough screw in the spares kit because the post is shorter than it should be.
Bambu sells a replacement front housing, but I don’t know if it includes the screws.
There are also models on Makerworld that you can print yourself.

I do believe the front toolhead panels comes with the fan and thus the screws installed, just seems so wasteful to buy the entire thing for just a screw… Though I am considering it for spare parts.

I honestly wouldn’t worry about it. I’ve put thousands of hours on a couple printers that these have broken off of and they print the same as ones with them in place.
When you search for the X1C fan, it says it includes 2 screws MG2.5-15 so that’s what you need. Not sure it’s sold separately
They are 5 of them included in the X1/P1 screw kit though

I tried BT2.6 and they seemed to be too large on mine.
I believe these are for the hotend fan and not the toolhead front housing fan, which have different screws. I have the screw set but none of the replacement screws therein work.

For the next days I will just operate with one of the screws, as I’m indeed confident it should be fine. Just to have some extra peace of mind, I did order a replacement front panel assembly as a spare, so I can also reuse those screws. Additionally, I ordered some BT2 L6 screws, that I will try out with a washer.
