I downloaded all the specs sheets from Bambus filaments and fed them into my local Ai (Qwen3.8 27B running in LM Bionic) to make this comparison based on the most important strength parameters, I thought I post it in case somebody else maybe find it useful.
Did any of you buy and try this PLA Sparkle? Either the released data from Bambu labs is incorrect or it is suprisingly strong?? - Until this is cleared up by somebody treat the high score of PLA Sparkle with a grain of sparkle, ah salt…
This was the method they are sorted:
Step 1 — Pick 4 metrics (from each filament’s TDS):
| Metric | Unit | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Tensile Strength Z | MPa | Force needed to pull layers apart (layer adhesion) |
| Tensile Strength XY | MPa | Force needed to break the part in-plane |
| Impact Strength XY | kJ/m² | Energy absorbed before breaking (shock) |
| Bending Strength XY | MPa | Resistance to flexing/bending |
Step 2 — Normalize each metric to 0–100% by dividing by the best value across all 33 filaments
Max values used: TS-Z, TS-XY, Impact, Bend
Step 3 — Average the 4 normalized values (equal weight, 25% each)
Here another ranking which might be more accurate, it takes into account that particles like glitter have a negative impact:
