I thought of something recently while in the shower, and I hope Bambu Lab does this sometime. What if BBL holds a contest where you can submit a design for their next 3d printer? The winner of the contest would receive a prototype of their printer and help turn it into the final product that BBL would sell. Would this be cool, or not?
I think it could be cool but also a lot of work for BBL
The contestants are going to design it from the ground up. In other words, the contestants are going to do the heavy lifting.
I think this would be hard for BBL to do I think they would need some guidelines and boundaries. We do not know how BBL manufactures their printers and somebody’s design might not work with their manufacturing processes.

I figured there would be rules like it needs to support this volume or you can only use 8 motors or exceed these dimensions.

That is an expensive request from BL.
Asking Creality would be easier, as chances are they have already created one of every possible variant people have ever thought of and already put them out for people to buy.

Or the winning design itself…
What would prevent other from downloading and abusing this work for their own purpose.
There is platforms where such designs would fit in nicely, like in the open source world.
Bambu does not believe in open source, so I don’t see such a contest working out…
Not to mention what is involved to design a printer - or are we just talking about a box for the housing??
