Fuzzy Skin (partial)

Hi all,
I’ve been trying to apply fuzzy skin to parts of a body only.


Deliberately I chose to use a factory preset. The only thing being changed for the modifier geometry is “fuzzy skin”. After slicing, at first glance it looks fine:

but if you look inside:

WTF? Obviously the slicer (this applies to Prusa and Orca as well, BTW) generates outer walls at every bound of the modifier.
Is this supposed to happen this way? How can one overcome this annoying problem?

Use a disc modifier instead of a sphere?

Excellent workaround as long as the “base” geometry is plain. Imagine the other way round, i.e. a cylinder where only a part should be fuzzy…

have you tried “mesh boolean” yet? might help here.
