I slice the models on my computer using Bambu Studio and then export them to micro-SD card using export → plate sliced file to get a .gcode.3mf-file.
Then I go to the printer and want to insert it, but in some cases (about 25% of incidences) when I insert the card, either the latest or all models on it get deleted (0kb file size) and a couple of artifacts, visible in the file Viewer as .REC, .REN files appear.
Then I have to reformat the card to be able to use it again and begin from anew.
I alternate between two different SD-cards to speed up my workflow. The location where my printer is has no Wifi so this is the best solution for me.
Both SD-cards are formated the same way and have the same folder structure (Models/Timelapse/Cache).
The problem appears also when I use the same card to add a Model on my computer and then go back to the printer to insert it.
Yes but still the solution I’m working with is using the SD-Card and the problem I’d like to solve in this post is why does the printer occasionally format these?
I don’t use the time lapse option.
Turning off the printer before switching SD cards is my standard procedure, I should have mentioned this in the original post, thanks for clarification.
@Robert2 did also mention the Video stream. If that is on when you remove the SD card you can wreck the filesystem. Although, I suppose, if you don’t even have the printer networked then it’s not likely to have a video stream running…
Can you elaborate please, is Video stream = having the time lapse option on?
Otherwise I’m not sure about that setting and might infact have it turned on without knowing.
No. When you send a print job to the printer using BS, you can set it to use TimeLapse, which specifically saves the camera stream to a file on the SD card. However, even without TimeLapse set, you can display the Live Stream on your BS Device screen. How that works when you’re not LAN connected I do not know. Certainly TimeLapse is independent of being LAN connected.
That Live Stream might affect the SD card implies that there might be some buffering to the card, but I can’t confirm that.
