I am quite new to Bambu and Makerworld and I have a question about its usage.
Case in point, I own a P1S + AMS. I see a model and decide to print it. In the available profiles, there are usually a few, P1S included. Then I hit “Open in Bambu Studio”.
The app will launch with the models in the plate and, more often than not, the printer itself changes from P1s to A1 Mini, for example, even though I’ve selected P1S profile.
Why does this happen?
What am I doing wrong?
Should I revert to P1S or keep it as is?
Then I switch back to P1S but notice that there is also a lot of changes in the settings for that particular model and filament. I always struggle about whether those should be reverted as well (assuming they were intended for the A1 mini on this example…).
Or should I just simply stick to download the model, and import into my plate where all the settings are already “OK” to my P1S.
I have this same problem with my A1 mini. I do not know what to do about the settings changing and always say yes. I can click on the A1 mini and then download the file and most of the time it will not print on my machine. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. Some file print but a lot do not.
When you open a print profile from Makerworld, it’ll often be the print profile straight from the designer, so will be setup with all the settings they had, including the 3d printer they used when setting it up.
When you print stuff through the handy app, it’ll automatically adjust things for whatever printer you’re printing with, along with whatever filament you choose. Although certain print settings can’t be adjusted from there.
So, when you open it up in Bambu Studio on the computer, you kind of have to manually get things adjusted. That means selecting your printer, build plate, and filaments.
You can choose to keep or discard the settings for a given file. Like if you have an A1 Mini and you open up a profile setup on a P1, it’ll ask if you want to save, discard, or use the modified values. In this case, unless you don’t like the designer’s settings, it’ll be good to hit the “use modified value” button.
I recommend using the settings from the profile, as they might have special things setup for specific parts, to make them print better or something. At least it’s worth reviewing to see what the designer did, and if you don’t like it you can just select one of your own presets easily enough.
I generally would recommend selecting your own filaments and filament presets, unless there’s a specific reason a design might have adjustments to the filament settings. Like a print profile meant to illustrate the best settings for Transparent PETG.
