Getting AMS this week for my P1P upgraded to P1S

My question is the firmware for the AMS, can I update it without updating the P1S? I’m quite content with the firmware I have on my machine. I don’t want to upgrade it. But I’m sure the AMS will need an update to match the printer? Also I would like to be able to share the AMS with the A1 that sits next to the P1S. Is that possible?
Thanks

I picked up an AMS in November to go with my P1S. It’s just the original AMS, not the AMS 2. I don’t think you can update the AMS separately, but if it’s any help:

P1S firmware version: 1.07.00.00 (I don’t want to go to to a newer version because I’m afraid my X-Touch screen will stop working.)

AMS firmware version: 00.00.06.49

Orcaslicer is telling me there is a newer firmware for the AMS but there is no option to just update the AMS, even if I wanted to. Everything has been working just fine with the firmware as is.

Can’t help you with the A1 question.

Enjoy your AMS!!

Thanks for the reply, it arrives tomorrow so I guess I’ll find out. I thought I read somewhere that the AMS will work with the A1, but I’m probably mistaken on that. Thank you again for your reply

X touch will stop working once your auth key needs to regenerate, and once that happens, it will not work even if you give it a new auth key, you can ask the community for a fix as they have them but they are not endorsed by the owner of x-touch as he wants to move away from BBL cloud and Lan only.

The ams will not work with the A1 as of 5/13/25 it has not been given support yet as BBL has said it will come like late July, I believe, Yes, you can update the AMS without updating the firmware, but I see no reason not to update the P1S firmware as 1.8.0.0 does not include the authorization so as long as you choose that firmware you will be fine 1.8.0.0 unless you want orca I think it did break with dev options and network plugin.

Thanks for the information, I received my AMS and it came with the latest firmware so that’s a plus. Been printing descant holders and other parts all day. It’s a bit of a learning curve to get everything setup. Had a couple issues with spools not being big enough, so I’m printing adapters for those as well.
I thought I saw that the AMS would be able to work with the A1’s in the 3rd quarter of this year, so thanks for that. I do like to use Orca as well as Bambu Studio but I really don’t think 1.8.0.0 is Orca friendly, I’ve heard a lot of bad stuff the newest version it not playing well with others.

My network is completely air gaped. I don’t like, or use the handy app for anything other than setting up the printer initially. I also use an entirely different camera setup for remote monitoring. So I’m not loosing anything.
Thanks again
